Sharpshooting USF Commit Takes Official Visit

In early August, coach Stan Heath and the South Florida Bulls picked up another piece to the puzzle with the commitment of 6-foot-4 shooting guard, Troy Holston. Over the weekend, Holston took his official to USF and spoke with Holston to recap his visit.

With the ability to put points up in a hurry, 6-foot-4, 185-pound shooting guard Troy Holston was coveted by several schools including Miami (FL), Marquette, Alabama and Kansas State before making his commitment to South Florida this past summer.

The Oldsmar (Fla.) Christian sharpshooting wing is less than a year away from suiting up in the green and white for Stan Heath and over the weekend, Holston took his one official visit to check out his future home in Tampa Bay.

"The visit was really great," Holston said. "The first day in the morning, I went to a class with Josh Heath and Bo Zeigler and then went to lunch at Champions after. They also practiced three times while I was there and scrimmaged as well on Saturday - we went out to eat after. It was a great overall experience with coach Heath and the players. My visit started at 11 AM on Friday and lasted until 11 AM on Sunday."

In preparation to get ready for hoops in the AAC, coach Heath and the Bulls staff have a plan in place for the Oldsmar Christian standout.

"I'm just staying in the game everyday, getting shots up and working on ball handling - everything," Holston said. "I've been doing weight training as well. Coach Heath wants to put at least 15 pounds on me when I get there. It would be easier to do that If I start now. I'm mentally focused and I'm preparing. I just can't wait to get there to be honest with you."

Is Holston completely solid to the Bulls?

"I'm completely sold on South Florida. This is home and it's definitely where I'll be playing college basketball."
