Miami Linebacker Talks USF and Recruiting

Athletic Miami (Fla.) Killian linebacker Bruce Davis already holds a handful of offers as a junior. Davis took some time to speak with USFNation about his season, South Florida, and his overall recruitment.

Bruce Davis, a 2015 Scout.com 3-star linebacker prospect from Miami (Fla.) Killian, has had a stellar season at outside linebacker after previously playing safety and middle linebacker. On the year, the athletic and versatile defensive force has racked up two interceptions, one being returned for a touchdown, two fumbles recoveries, with one being returned for a touchdown as well, and four sacks.

The ability to cause turnovers and his overall aggressive play have landed the 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker offers from South Florida, Cincinnati, Old Dominion, Temple and Akron.

Over the summer, the Miami Dade linebacker snagged his first instate offer from coach Willie Taggart the South Florida Bulls and talks to USFNation.com about that experience.

"I was offered over the 4th of July weekend," Davis said. "Honestly, I really don't know how it all went down. I was chillin at home and my dad called me and said he just got off the phone with the USF coaches and said I have an offer from them If I want it. I know their linebacker coach is the one recruiting me. My dad is always the one who comes to me with the news If I get another offer."

As for visits, Davis has one visit set in stone for the upcoming summer.

"Over the summer, I know I'm going to go visit Cincinnati for a camp," Davis said.

When Davis and his family plan to make their decision, a few factors will determine the rangy linebacker's decision.

"Academics, playing time, environment and what they have to offer will factor in to my decision."

With several months until signing day, Davis has one school that's sticking out in his recruitment.

"I want to leave out of Miami and right now, Cincinnati is my leader," Davis said. "I'll probably make my decision towards the end of my senior year."
