So far, the 2013 season hasn't gone the way the talented center hoped for. Hiers is recovering from a torn MCL that occurred in fourth game of the season and hopes to return to full strength when playoffs begin. Despite the injury, the road grader out of Lake Wales is ranked the 4th best center in the country by Scout.com and has collected offers from the likes of South Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Miami (Fl), North Carolina State, LSU and more.
Recently, Hiers spent his weekend instate and took a visit to South Florida when they hosted Louisville for their homecoming weekend and came away impressed.
"I like it there, I went a couple of time last year," Hiers said. "I really like it better than anywhere else I've been to so far. Coach Mathis is the one recruiting me from USF."
The Bulls' coaching staff has relayed a simple message to Hiers to convince him to take his talents to Tampa Bay.
"The coaching staff has been saying they need me," Hiers said. "I spoke with coach Taggart also and we was disappointed about the loss. He was saying the same thing, he needs me. There's a playing opportunity there for me. That's what I'm looking for. I want to play early."
As for visits, Hiers plans on visiting the Bulls again in the near future.
"I'm probably going to go to USF again," Hiers said. "The one game (SMU) after the Memphis game is one I'm hoping to go to. USF has been asking me to come."
With schools tugging Hiers from every region, two schools are sitting comfortably in the talented offensive lineman's recruitment.
"Probably Kentucky first, USF second."
