Punta Gorda OL Awaits First Scholarship Offer

A player that's made a name for themselves throughout their junior year has been Punta Gorda (Fla.) Charlotte offensive lineman Grant Polk. USFNation.com caught up with the athletic tackle prospect for the latest in his recruitment.

Grant Polk, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound athletic offensive line prospect from Punta Gorda (Fla.) Charlotte High School, is a name that'll be climbing up recruiting boards all throughout the nation when it's all said and done.

To start his career, Polk started at offensive tackle for the Fightin' Tarpons, but feels like he's transitioned very well to his new home at guard.

"Well individually, I think I've improved a lot," Polk said. "They have me playing a new position, but I'm getting a hang of it. I went from tackle to guard. I've gotten better - a lot better actually. Our team is 4-4 and we're improving every day."

Oozing with potential with a great frame for a left tackle, Polk has generated heavy interest from Florida State, South Florida, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Duke and Ole Miss among others.

One school that could possibly get Polk's recruitment rolling is the South Florida Bulls.

"One of their coaches that recruits in our area, I think he's the linebackers coach (Raymond Woodie), he came by to see some of our players and he spoke with me a little bit," Polk said. "He said based on my SAT and ACT scores, they'll probably make an offer after the season."

There's a trio of schools that could receive a visit from the Punta Gorda road grader in the near future.

"I was invited to go to a game against Cincinnati," Polk said. "I was thinking about the game when they play Louisville. Other than that, I was thinking about visiting Duke because I've received a bunch of emails from them, and I might visit Wake Forest as well."

Wherever Polk chooses as his future destination, playing time will play a big role in his decision.

"If I get playing time or not, and definitely the coaches. I have to like the coaches."
