Men's Basketball Improves to 8-2

South Florida improved to 8-2 on the season after defeating the Rattlers of Florida A&M on Thursday night inside the Sun Dome.

TAMPA BAY, FL---In the fourth straight nail biter of the season, the South Florida Bulls escaped the Rattlers of Florida A&M on Thursday, winning 73-30 inside the Sun Dome.

The Bulls bounced back behind the hot shooting from first year guard Corey Allen Jr. in the first half, which they were outrebounded 21-to-19 as well. Allen Jr. finished the game with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting, six rebounds and three assists to lead the Bulls to their fourth straight win.

South Florida shot just 44% (11-of-25) in the first half, but had more luck in the second half, shooting 57% (15-26). Helping that percentage increase in the second half of the game was 6-foot-9 senior forward, Victor Rudd.

Rudd has 12 of his 19 points in the second half, and finished with 10 rebounds to give him a double-double. Due to knee inflammation, Javontae Hawkins was expected to receive limited minutes, but played 25 minutes and chipped in with nine points and a block.

The Bulls take an early flight to Las Vegas to get ready for the second part of the Las Vegas Classic tournament. They'll be squaring off with Mississippi State on Sunday night at 8:00.
