USF Men's Basketball Preview - SMU

South Florida (10-6, 1-2) seeks to improve to 5-0 in true road games after they square off with legendary head coach, Larry Brown, and the Southern Methodist Mustangs (11-4, 1-2) at 7:00 on ESPNU.

After a 82-73 win on the road against the Temple Owls last Thursday, the South Florida Bulls (10-6, 1-2) improved to 4-0 on the season in true road games in school history. On Wednesday night, coach Stan Heath and his Bulls hope to continue their winning ways after they take on the SMU Mustangs (11-4, 1-2).

The Mustangs are led by legendary head coach Larry Brown, who won a NBA Championship in 2004 in his first year as the head coach of the Detroit Pistons. So far this season, Southern Methodist is a perfect 7-0 at home in front of their home crowd. Leading a Mustangs team that shoots a conference-best, 49.1 percent from the field, is Nic Moore, a 5-foot-9 sophomore guard.

On the year, Moore leads Larry's Brown squad in scoring and assists, averaging 13.3 points and 4.6 assists a game. The Mustangs' floor general has been efficient as ever in his second year in Dallas to go along with it. Moore is shooting 50 percent from the field, while going 51 percent from downtown as well.

Leading the Mustangs' attack in the paint is 6-foot-9, 245-pound Philadelphia native, Marcus Kennedy. Kennedy sat out last season after transferring from Villanova, but has made his name known in his first year as a Mustang.

Kennedy is putting up 10.5 points and 5.9 assists a game, while shooting 49 percent from the field, but is struggling at the charity stripe this year, shooting just 59 percent on the year.

Always known a defensive minded coach, Larry Brown's Mustangs are holding opponents to a conference leading 36.5 percent shooting from the field, which also ranks fourth in the NCAA.

Tipoff is set for 7:00, and can be seen on ESPNU.
