Perry Snags Fifth Rookie of the Week Award

For the fifth time this season, South Florida's freshman forward, Chris Perry, was named the Rookie of the Week by the American Athletic Conference.

TAMPA, FL.--Monday mornings are starting to become very kind to South Florida's freshman power forward, Chris Perry. The 6-foot-8, 265-pound Bartow native was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for fifth time this season.

In games against Southern Methodist and the University of Cincinnati, Perry averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for Stan Heath's Bulls, who hold a 11-11 record on the season.

In a 78-71 win over SMU on Tuesday, Perry recorded 18 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting, including a near perfect 6-of-7 from the charity stripe as well.

In a close-fought battle against the No. 13 Cincinnati Bearcats Sunday, which resulted in a 50-45 loss, Perry had 13 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting for the Bulls.

For his freshman season, Perry is averaging 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds on 53 percent shooting. The Bulls' big man has also scored in double-figures in 15 of USF's 22 games this season.
