USF 2014 Signing Class, Sealed and Delivered

National Signing Day has came to a close, and the Bulls' 2014 recruiting class is now complete. USFNation.com has a complete wrap up of all the LOI's that came in from the entire 2014 class of 29 future Bulls.

Willie Taggart and the South Florida Bulls polished off a sensational 2014 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon, which ranks 45th nationally by Scout.com. While every Signing Day is jam-packed with astonishment and elation for numerous schools, the Bulls received some pleasant news of their own.

Early Enrollees

Marlon Pope- Tight End - 6-foot-4, 270-pounds - Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.

With tight ends Michael McFarland and Sean Price currently on the Bulls' roster, South Florida offensive coordinator Paul Wulff added another weapon this offseason when Marlon Pope signed his LOI with the Bulls. Coach Taggart has brought the pro-style offense to Tampa Bay, and receiving Pope's signature solidifies his attack that much more.

Pope is an excellent blocker in the run game and gives the Bulls an extra lineman on the edge to create space for the running backs. Pope has decent athleticism for his size and has shown great hands when the ball has been thrown to him.

Demetrius Hill- Defensive End - 6-foot-3, 240-pounds - Fort Scott C.C.

After Aaron Lynch declared for the 2014 NFL Draft at the season's end, the Bulls received Hill's much needed verbal commitment shortly after. The Fort Scott product is a relentless pass rusher and possesses a terrific football IQ. He might not possess great size at 6-foot-5, 250-pounds, but Hill uses his size and quickness to his advantage on the edge to get into the backfield. With Lynch, Giddins, Forte and Mims all removed from the Bulls' roster, I expect Hill to challenge for a starting job this fall.

Jamie Byrd- Defensive Back - 5-foot-11, 190-pounds - Iowa Western C.C.

Byrd will bring toughness to the Bulls' secondary the second he steps on the field in 2014, and you won't find too many defensive backs that throw their body around like he does. He is great in the run game and wraps up very well with good form. Byrd also shows great range as the centerfielder of the defense at safety and snags the ball at it's highest point. Overall, Byrd might be the hardest hitting defensive back in all of the Junior-College ranks, and should make an instant impact with Mark Joyce and JaQuez Jenkins' careers over in Tampa Bay.

Eric Mayes- Defensive Lineman - 6-foot-5, 270-pounds - Milford Academy

Standing 6-foot-5, 270-pounds, Mayes is a genetic freak for his size. The former Sarasota (Fla.) Booker product initially signed with the Bulls out of high school, but had his enrollment delayed due to an entrance exam score. He possesses a raw blend of size and athleticism for a defensive lineman and is versatile to play both tackle and end in Tampa Bay, but may be better suited lining up inside. He's only been playing football since his junior after switching over from the hardwood and is loaded with potential. Mayes finished the 2013 season with 20 tackles, five sacks, four TFL and a forced fumble for Milford Academy.

Devin Abraham- Defensive Back - 5-foot-10, 180-pounds - Tarpon Springs (Fla.) Eastlake High School.

Abraham was flat out dominant and a nightmare for opposing offenses all season long. For the year, the early enrollee racked up 74 tackles, including 45 solo, six interceptions, five blocked field goals, two blocked punts, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for Tarpon Springs East Lake. Abraham was a 1st-team DB 7A All-State selection.

I expect Abraham to make an impact on special teams early on in his Bulls' career.

Deatrick Nichols- Defensive Back - 5-foot-10, 180-pound - Miami (Fla.) Central High School.

After issuing a verbal commits to Willie Taggart and the Bulls last May, Deatrick Nichols finally enrolled at the University of South Florida in January. For his senior season, Nichols recorded four interceptions from his cornerback position.

Nichols possesses a terrific football IQ and breaks on the ball very well. He also has good instincts for a cornerback and showcases the ability to turn his hips and run with fast wide receivers.

2014 Signees

Juwuan Brown- Outside Linebacker - 6-foot-3, 210-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson High School

Brown starred for the Dragons at outside linebacker in 2013. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound versatile linebacker recorded 77 tackles, including 30 solo, 31 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and a 70-yard interception for a touchdown to help lead Tampa Jefferson to a 10-2 record. Brown was a 2nd-team 6A all-state selection as a senior.

Brown made a living in the backfield his senior year, providing a consistent pass rush from the linebacker position. He sheds blocks well and is very fluid and athletic for size. The potential is there for Brown.

Tajee Fullwood- Defensive Back - 6-foot-2, 190-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Technical High School.

Fullwood is a versatile athlete who played several positions in 2013, and was named a 7A all-state honorable mention selection. In 2013, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Fullwood hauled in 21 catches for 356 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, the USF commit had 23 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Fullwood also excelled on special teams as a return man.

Fullwood could play a variety of positions when he suits up in the green and gold next season. He has great size for a cornerback at 6-foot-2, and can flip his hips and run with most receivers. Fullwood's best asset is his versatility, which the Bulls will take full advantage of next fall.

LeGrande Harley- Middle Linebacker - 6-foot-1, 235-pounds - George Military.

The Junior-College defensive standout finished the 2013 season with 36 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble to help lead Georgia Military to a 11-1 record.

Harley is your traditional old school type of linebacker that'll fit in perfectly at South Florida. He has good acceleration out of his stance and diagnoses plays very well from the middle linebacker spot. He doesn't have great speed, but performs his duties well.

Michael Galati- Offensive Guard - 6-foot-2, 285-pounds - Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee High School.

Galati was the leader of a Manatee offensive line that paved the way up front for an offense that averaged 322 yards per game rushing. On the year, the Hurricanes rushed for 3,874 yards and 47 touchdowns. Galati was a 2nd-team 8A All-State selection.

Galati is quick off the ball and has learned almost every position on the offensive line, including tackle. He also great feet and finishes his blocks well. At the next level, Galati will slide inside to guard or center.

Michael Smith- Offensive Guard - 6-foot-3, 305-pounds - Miami (Fla.) Central High School.

Smith will add more beef and depth upfront for the Bulls for the future. Smith helped Miami Central to a state championship win over Seffner Armwood in 2013 behind two All-American running backs, Dalvin Cook and Joseph Yearby. Smith was a 6A 2nd-team All-State selection as a senior.

Smith possesses a nastiness to his game, while providing terrific leadership up front in the trenches. Bulls' offensive coordinator, Paul Wulff, is receiving an offensive lineman who's very strong in the run game.

Jimmy Bayes- Outside Linebacker - 6-foot-3, 195-pounds - Immokalee (Fla.) High School.

After a strong showing in the Semper Fi All-American game out in California, Immokalee (Fla.) outside linebacker Jimmy Bayes was named a 5A 3rd-team All-State selection. The longtime Bulls' pledge recorded 78 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, a sack and a blocked field goal in 2013.

Bayes brings athleticism to the linebacker position, and is comfortable dropping back in pass coverage. Another strong trait for Bayes is his lateral quickness. With some time in the Bulls' Strength and Conditioning Program, Bayes' game could really take off at the next level.

Tyre McCants- Wide Receiver - 6-foot-0, 200-pounds - Niceville (Fla.) High School.

A do-it-all athlete from Niceville (Fla.) High School, McCants was a 2nd-team 7A All-State selection after finishing his senior campaign with a sensational 818 receiving yards, 560 rushing yards, 540 return yards, and 18 total touchdowns. The Bulls' coaching staff plans to use McCants' versatility to it's fullest once he arrives on campus.

McCants does a good job of advancing the ball up field in a hurry, while snagging several catches in traffic. The versatile athlete averaged over 39 yards per return, while fumbling just once in 131 opportunities in 2013. McCants should make an immediate impact in the Bulls' return game.

Kendall Sawyer- Defensive Back - 6-foot-1, 185-pounds - Lehigh Acres (Fla.) East Lee County High School.

Sawyer is a raw athlete with good size, speed and quickness. He's effective in the open field on offense, as he's elusive and dangerous. On defense, the rangy athlete is solid in coverage and is effective in the run game as well. He needs to get stronger and bulk up, but Sawyer has a lot of untapped potential, and possesses all the skills and traits in a cornerback.

In a disappointing 0-10 senior season, Sawyer rushed for 239 yards on 59 carries, while hauling in 22 passes for 374 yards and a touchdown on offense. On the defensive side of the ball, Sawyer recorded 28 tackles, two interceptions, nine pass deflections, three blocked field goals, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for the Jaguars.

Marlon Mack- Running Back - 5-foot-11, 195-pounds - Sarasota (Fla.) Booker High School.

The former UCLA Bruin pledge was named the HTpreps.com Defensive Player of the Year after recording 110 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and four interceptions in 2013. On offense, the Sarasota native amassed 1,527 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground, while snagging eight passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns through the air as well.

As a ball carrier, Mack is very patient and possesses great footwork and vision. He can stop and change direction with the best of them, while making defenders miss in the open field. Mack will be a threat in the passing game when he arrives in Tampa Bay this summer.

Rohan Blackwood- Defensive End - 6-foot-5, 235-pounds - Brooksville (Fla.) Nature Coast High School.

The athletic and explosive pass-rusher amassed 85 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks and three forced fumbles in seven games, while making All-North Suncoast First Team as a senior in 2013.

The former Wisconsin Badger commit has a ton of upside, and the frame to add a significant amount of weight. He has a great first step on the edge, and is filled with athleticism. Blackwood's best days of football are ahead of him.

Zach Hudson- Offensive Tackle - 6-foot-6, 280-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Sickles High School.

After being committed to the Missouri Tigers for quite some time, Zach Hudson flipped his commitment to the hometown Bulls last month, following a strong official visit. Hudson anchored an offensive lineman that paved the way for All-State junior running back, Ray Ray McCloud.

Hudson has a solid build for an offensive tackle, and has the frame to add more mass without losing his mobility. He shows the ability to get out and pull in the flats, and is a strong run blocker who keeps moving his feet at all times.

Ben Knox- Offensive Tackle - 6-foot-5, 270-pounds - Deland (Fla.) High School.

Knox has good size at 6-foot-5, athleticism and long arms that you look for in an offensive tackle prospect. He has good feet and moves well laterally in pass protection. He bends well and comes off the ball low as well.

Knox was originally committed to the Florida Gators, but de-committed and reopened his recruitment on Sept. 11.

Elkanah Dillon- Tight End - 6-foot-5, 225-pounds - Ocala (Fla.) Vanguard High School.

On a Vanguard team that finishes 5-5 in 2013, the pass-catching tight end hauled in 45 passes for 596 yards and six touchdowns, while only playing organized football since the tenth grade.

Dillon has great hands for the tight end position and catches most of his passes away from his body. He's a decent athlete with good speed, but has the ability to make certain defenders miss in the open field. In the run game, Dillon is a willing and aggressive blocker as well.

Quinton Flowers- Quarterback - 6-foot-0, 210-pounds - Miami (Fla.) Jackson High School.

Flowers will be a playmaker and weapon behind center for Willie Taggart and the Bulls. He possesses a live arm with great touch and a knack for making explosive plays with his feet. He's a big, strong quarterback who possesses all the leadership qualities you want from a quarterback.

Flowers accounted for 1,349 yards through the air, while rushing for 641 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013.

Ryeshene Bronson- Wide Receiver - 6-foot-3, 180-pounds - Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar High School.

Bronson has the size and speed for a wide receiver, and can track the ball down the field in an impressive manner. The Fort Myers product provides great length at wide receiver, and has the frame to put on another 20-25 pounds. Overall, it's a receiver that could really excel at the college level.

Nick Holman- Linebacker - 6-foot-2, 225-pounds - Madison (Ala.) Bob Jones High School.

Holman is still developing as a middle linebacker after playing along the defensive lineman in his first two years of high school. Holman has raw talent, power and instincts at 230-pounds. He provides a powerful punch when he makes a hit, and is a terrific leader for one of the state's best teams. With the departure of DeDe Lattimore, Holman has a chance to see the field early on in Tampa Bay.

Mazzi Wilkins- Cornerback - 6-foot-1, 165-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Plant High School.

Wilkins is a local product with long arms, quick hips and good speed for a cornerback. He has good instincts and anticipation with where the quarterback wants to deliver the ball to. Wilkins also has a lot of versatility, but needs to get much stronger, which will come in time.

Wilkins recorded 67 tackles, three tackles for loss, 23 pass deflections, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception in 2013 for the Panthers.

Stanley Clerveaux- Wide Receiver - 6-foot-3, 185-pounds - North Miami (Fla.) Senior High School.

When the ball is in the air, that's when Clerveaux is at his best. He's a terrific red-zone threat that snags the ball at it's highest point. He catches the ball with his hands away from his body, which every coach loves. When you need a score in the red-zone, Stanley is your guy.

Nick Nataro- Tight End - 6-foot-4, 250-pounds - Estero (Fla.) High School.

Nataro is a very solid all-around tight end, and one of the best in the Sunshine State for the class of 2014. He's a very aggressive run blocker, but has the soft hands and athleticism in the pass game as well. Nataro is a perfect fit for what coach Taggart's looking to install in Tampa Bay.

Vincent Jackson - Linebacker - 6-foot-3, 240-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit High School.

Jackson possesses good size at 6-foot-3, 240-pounds, and one of his best attributes is putting pressure on the quarterback. It depends on how much his body develops over the next couple years, but the Jesuit product could end playing defensive end in his Bulls' career.

Josh Black - Linebacker - 6-foot-2, 235-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Sickles High School.

Built like a brick, Josh Black had an outstanding senior campaign, which he racked up 103 tackles, 30 quarterback hurries, 26 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries for Tampa Sickles.

Black has outstanding size for a linebacker at 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, which is all good weight. He has experience along the defensive line, and is a relentless pass rusher from the linebacker spot. He's another local product that should flourish in Chuck Bresnahan's defense. Black is a candidate for early playing time.

D'Ernest Johnson - Running Back - 5-foot-11, 190-pounds - Immokalee (Fla.) High School.

Johnson does several things on the football field that coaches love in their running back. The Immokalee star can stop and cut on a dime with the best of them, while hitting holes with a purpose. He reads his blocks very well, and is a true threat in the passing game from the running back position.

Johnson is most effective when running between the tackles, and has a nice shoulder shake to go along with it.

Deon Thompson - Running Back - 5-foot-9, 175-pounds - Tampa (Fla.) Technical High School.

The quick and elusive running back accepted a preferred walk-on spot at USF on Signing Day. For his senior year, Thompson accounted for 836 yards and 10 touchdowns on 149 carries, while catching 23 passes for 416 yards and four touchdowns for a 6-4 Tampa Bay Technical team.
