USF Outlasts Rival UCF in Overtime Thriller

Behind Victor Rudd's double-double and hot overtime performance, the South Florida Bulls snuck by the UCF Knights in a 79-78 overtime win on Wednesday night.

ORLANDO, FLA.--In an exciting overtime finish inside CFE Arena, South Florida kicked off the rivalry against UCF in good fashion on Wednesday, winning 79-78.

Bulls' highflying forward, Victor Rudd, was dominant as ever, finishing with 25 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal on 11-of-19 shooting in the exciting instate matchup. Rudd scored eight of the Bulls' nine points in overtime.

Isaiah Sykes had 24 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Knights, but it wasn't enough to come on top. Sykes drove to the basket with under 15 seconds left in overtime, but was rejected by the long and athletic, John Egbunu.

With time expiring, Shemiye McLendon attempted a half-court and was fouled. McLendon made one free-throw for the Bulls to push them over the top against the Knights.

South Florida outrebounded the Knights 40-32, while shooting 50.7 percent (34-67) from the field on the night.

Chris Perry fouled out before overtime, but finished with 10 points and six rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting. Martino Brock chipped in with 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals on 7-of-13 shooting as well.
