Profile - Meiko Dotson
Mainland High School, Daytona Beach defensive back Meiko Dotson received some good news this week as his junior year is coming to an end. Dotson has received two new offers bringing his offer total to ten.
Dotson is going through off-season workouts as the school year is coming to a close. Meiko feels his coverage skills are the strongest part of his game. "I don't want to be complacent, I want to keep getting better at all the little things."
The Georgia Tech offer came in a phone conversation with Coach Lamar Owens. "I called Coach Owens and when we were talking he extended an offer to me." The Tech coaches watched film of Dotson in an evaluation meeting and extended the offer. Coach Owens also had a chance to see Meiko practice.
Meiko has a connection in Atlanta. His sister attends Clark University. "If I were to go to Tech, I could see her a lot." Meiko likes Atlanta and what Georgia Tech has to offer.
Dotson is familiar with Tech having attended camp there. He plans to make a return visit this summer. "I'd like to return to Atlanta and see the school and meet the coaches again."
No other visits are planned yet for Dotson. He will get together with his parents and coach to see what visits are possible. "I'm sure I'll make some visits and camps this summer."
Meiko doesn't have any favorites among the ten schools that have offered. "I want to have all the teams equal in my mind so I can make a good decision." Dotson doesn't plan to make his college decision until later in the year.
Western Michigan has been recruiting him the hardest thus far. Meiko feels that Tech and Indiana could join that list. Now that they've offered, I'll have to see if they start recruiting me harder than they were before."
