Miami Gulliver Prep junior wide receiver Dontay Mayfield is one of the fastest rising prospects coming out of the state of Florida. The interest and offers are starting to come in, but one school that he wants to build a relationship with is the Badgers.
"I am very interested in Wisconsin,” Mayfield told BadgerNation. “It is a good school and they have a good offense. I am pretty sure they throw the ball a lot and they develop a lot of NFL players. I want to take a visit to Wisconsin some time and distance will not be a factor either.”
Ranked an early three-star recruit by Scout.com, Mayfield holds offers from Appalachian State, Cincinnati, South Florida, Western Michigan and Wisconsin, but is hearing from countless other schools like Duke, Clemson, LSU and Pittsburgh.
“So far my recruiting process has been good,” Mayfield said. “I don’t have anyone sticking out. My options are open, so I am just visiting other schools and make sure I make the right decision. I am not cutting anyone and my options are open. Whoever shows the most love that is who I really like.”
The 6-0, 175-pound wide out has been racking up the miles this summer by visiting several places and has a few more left to see.
“I am actually on a college road trip right now,” said Mayfield. “I just left LSU. I visited Tulane earlier this week and I am on my way to Southern Mississippi. After that we are going to Ole Miss, Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and North Carolina.”
