Pasco High Receiver Likes USF

See what Darrell Davis had to say about the Bulls. He talks about his offers, USF coaches, and how his season has gone so far.

USF is certainly deep at the WR position this year, however they will be looking to take one, possibly two receivers this recruiting season. A name for USF fans to remember is Darrell Davis from Pasco High School in Dade City Florida. At 6-foot-5, 195 this WR/S/LB runs a 4.61 40 time and put up some pretty good numbers last year. He had 30 catches for 640 yards and 8 touchdowns. On defense he had 45 tackles and an interception mostly from the linebacker position. Davis also has quite a few offers, but I get a good feeling about him landing at USF. I had a chance to talk with him at last Saturday's home game against FAMU and this is what he had to say.

USFnation: How you been doing this season?
Darrell Davis: I've been doing real good this season, I feel real comfortable, like I can take over the game. My team is 1-2, last night I got 2 Ints, that's now 3 for the year, I also have 280 yards receiving with 3 TD's on the season.

USFN: How did your summer go? What camps did you attend?
DD: Summer went real good, I went to the USF camp and also the FSU camp where I got to do a little work out.

USFN: How many offers you have?
DD: Seven, USF, UCF, Iowa, Louisville, S. Carolina, N. Carolina, NC State.

USFN: Who's your top 3?
DD: Right now its USF, but its alternating, it alternates every other day.

USFN: What do you like about USF?
DD: I love the coaches, I already know half of them personally, I got a couple teammates on the team, Johnny Peyton, things like that, I know if I come to USF, I can play early.

USFN: When you do make a decision, what factors are important? Playing time? Academics?
DD: Its a mixture of both, academics first, my family is big on academics.

USFN: When are you going to make a decision?
DD: I'm going to wait it out, wait till February signing day probably.

Davis seems to be having a great year and is showing improvement on both sides of the ball. I'm sure his stock in recruiting is rising as well. Like I said earlier USF is only taking one or two receivers, but the fact that Davis plays DB is a plus for the Bulls because they could bring him in as a DB and his freshman year he could also compete at the WR position. Personally I would like to see him come in as a safety, he has great size and reminds me a lot of FSU's Pat Watkins. As far as his college interests go he was very excited to talk about the coaching staff and of being able to play at Raymond James Stadium. In the end it will come down to which position he is recruited at and what the Bulls needs are at that position.
