Mark Jones has had quite a bit of interest from out of state schools but now the Right Guard from Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange Florida has an offer from the University of South Florida. Jones has great size at 6-foot-4 295 pounds and considers himself a great run-blocker.
"I don't have an offer from them but Coach Sexton and I have been talking."
He even made an unofficial visit last weekend to see FSU come back and beat Maryland.
"It was an exciting game and I really enjoyed my visit."
It has only been a week since he received his offer from USF but Jones says he has been keeping an eye on them all season.
"They are having a great year, especially that win over Louisville." Adding, "With all those young players, USF is building a mini dynasty."
Although his Spruce Creek team is 2-7, Mark says he's still having a good year.
"Last year we were a predominately run-first type team, but this year we switched and pass almost every play." Jones says, "It has been different for me but I'm playing good and have only given up one sack."
He credits his success to his size and quickness. He may be close to 300 pounds but he has great feet from playing on the varsity basketball team at his school.
With the High School season coming to an end Jones has 3 visits planned. Right now they are Kansas State, FSU, and Mississippi State. He is also hoping he gets an invite from USF.
