JUCO QB Rates USF Visit a Perfect 10

USFnation.com talks with Jimmy Oliver a week after his official visit to USF. He also tells us that last Tuesday head coach Jim Leavitt made a visit to his house in Mississippi. Read on and find out what happen and what the plans are for this standout JUCO QB.

Jimmy Oliver is a quarterback prospect via the Junior College route. Over the last two seasons he starred at Pearl River (JuCo) where he went 20-1. He's an athletic quarterback that compiled over 6,700 yards and 67 toiuchdowns in two seasons. Oliver accounted for 630 total yards and six TDs in a 54-45 loss to Gulf Coast this season. He played his high school ball at Columbia (Miss.) and signed with Alcorn State out of high school.

Oliver recently made an official visit to the University Of South Florida for the final home game of the year against West Virginia. USFnation.com caught up with Jimmy and this is what he had to say.

"It was a good time." Says Oliver, "I enjoyed it all, from the time I got there till the time I left they showed me a lot of love."

How would you rate your visit?

"It was a perfect 10."

Who was your host during the visit?

"Amp Hill was my host, I had fun, he's a cool guy."

Last Tuesday Coach Leavitt made an in-home visit, how did that go?

"It was good. My mom was there and we talked about everything." Adding, "he's a great coach and my mom and I like that he's very honest."

This weekend Oliver will take his only other scheduled visit to Louisiana Tech. After that Oliver says he will have seen enough schools to make a decision.

"After my visit I will be ready to decide. I don't have a time frame for the actual decision, but I won't be taking another visit."

After talking to him it seems to be a two-horse race between LA. Tech and USF. He also mentioned that playing time is going to factor into his decision.

"Coach Leavitt told me all about the situation at QB, he said I have to go in and compete just like everybody else. I like that because all I need is a chance, that is not a problem for me."
