Catching Up With Dominic Grooms

Dominic Grooms is one of three quarterbacks who have given a verbal commitment to the Bulls. USFnation.com talks with Grooms about his decision, competing for the QB spot and more. Read on to get the whole story.

Dominic Grooms of Middleton High School in Tampa (FLA) is one of three QB's who have given verbal commitments to USF. All three are dual-threat type players and great athletes. Obviously not all of them will stay at quarterback and most likely two of the three will move to another position. However, all three will come in and be given the opportunity to play quarterback.

The major reason Dominic Grooms chose USF was because he could compete at quarterback, but he also made his decision based on the way the coaches stuck with him through a rough season.

"I had a turf toe injury that wouldn't go away. I was basically playing injured the whole year. I really appreciate the way the coaching staff kept on me even though I was hurt."

Grooms also understands, that he's coming in as a QB prospect, but may end up somewhere else.

"I wasn't promised anything and I'll have to come in and compete. Nothing will be given to me. I feel I can play the QB position, but if it doesn't work out I'm open to switching positions."

Another reason Grooms chose USF is that he has a good friend on the team.

"I talk with D'Juan Brown quite a bit. When I was a sophomore I used to come out and throw with him and J.R. Reed. I've known a couple of the guys on the team for a while now, I feel like I really fit in with the type of people on the team."

Grooms says his best attributes are his leadership and playmaking ability and that's why he feels he would make a good quarterback at South Florida.
