Bulls 2006 Football Schedule almost Complete

South Florida and McNeese State have reached an agreement to open the 2006 football season September 2 in Raymond James Stadium. USF will move its home game with Florida International to September 9.

McNeese State, located in Lake Charles, La., is a I-AA program, However they meet the NCAA's minimum scholarship threshold, so a win against them would count toward the six required for South Florida bowl eligibility.

The Cowboys appeared in the I-AA playoffs in each of four straight seasons between 2000 and 2003 while winning the Southland Conference championship in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The team reached the I-AA championship game in 2002.

The Cowboys were 5-4 in 2005 when they were forced to play a shortened schedule with two games canceled due to Hurricane Rita and one due to Hurricane Katrina. McNeese State is coached by Tommy Tate who has a 48-23 record in his six seasons.

In addition to the home games with McNeese State and Florida International, South Florida will play at UCF September 16 and at North Carolina September 23. With seven BIG EAST opponents also on the 2006 schedule, USF will add one additional game in what will be a 12-game season.
