Chamberlain High WR Emerges on Bulls Radar

Edner Alcin from Tampa Fla. is catching some late interest from a wide range of programs. West Virginia, Connecticut, South Florida and Central Florida have reportedly offered the speedy wide receiver, and he has scheduled his first two official visits. Read on to find out who besides USF will get a visit.

Edner Alcin a 6-foot-1, 177 pound wide receiver from Chamberlain HS, in Tampa, Fla., is a prospect who is coming on strong as signing day approaches. He has two official visits set up, and he is considering at least two more. "I am taking official visits to South Florida (1/13), and West Virginia (1/20)," Alcin indicated. "I am also trying to set up visits with Connecticut and Central Florida, but I am not sure about the dates yet."

Alcin, who has been reportedly clocked at 4.4 in the forty-yard dash, played well in a run oriented offense. He has nice hands, and his speed burst is apparent, as he is able to blow past defenders on the first two steps.

"My season went good, but it was not perfect. You can always play better. I had 34 catches, for 500 yards, and five or six touchdowns."

Solid programs are starting to come in on Alcin, and he is trying to stay humble throughout the process.

"West Virginia, Akron, UCF, USF, Ohio, UConn, and Akron are all showing me a lot of interest. Those are the schools that are probably recruiting me the hardest at this time," Alcin said. "I really try not to worry about who is offering or not. If I go for a visit and I like it, and the offer is there, then that is the place for me."

Alcin is enjoying the recruiting process with his teammates Roderick Jenrette, and Kylan Robinson, but what they do will not have an immediate impact on which school he will play for in the future.

"As far as recruiting goes, I am going to take my visits and weigh all of my options. I do not have any set plan."

We also got the chance to catch up with Chamberlain head coach Billy Turner about Alcin.

"Edner is a tremendous athlete. He has great hands. He has offers from UCF, USF, UConn, and West Virginia," Turner said. "He has been working hard and is putting on some solid muscle. He went to a camp this summer, and he put up some really great times. I think he may have been the fastest player there."

UConn stuck out to Turner as a school that is doing a great job in the recruitments of his players, and the Huskies may be in a good position to seal up one of Alcin's final visits.

"UConn is definitely in the picture. UConn has been in here recruiting these guys for awhile, and Coach [Dave] McMichael has been doing a great job selling the program."
