Samuels: 'I feel good about my decision'

Glades Central Running back Aston Samuels talks to USFnation about his decision to play for the bulls, what he's doing this off-season and more. Read on for the full story.

Running back Aston Samuels from Glades Central High School in Belle Glade (Fla.) committed to South Florida two weeks ago. Last season the 5-foot-10, 185 pound running back ran for 1,533 yards and 25 touchdowns. caught up with Samuels after the holidays. Here is what he had to say about his decision.

Why did you choose USF?

"I Chose South Florida because I think it is a real good situation for me with Andre Hall leaving. I think I have a good chance to come in and do something, I spoke with Coach Franks and coach Lane, and I felt real comfortable

How are your grades?

" I have a 3.1 G.P.A. but I'm going to try and get that higher.   I've taken my SAT's and ACT's but haven't gotten the results back yet."

What are you going to do in the off-season to keep in shape?

"Well, I work out a lot and run, and will keep doing that.  Hopefully I'll be able to get up there and start training early"

What would you say are your strengths as a running back?

"I've got a great work ethic and I practice hard, I also have great vision, speed and toughness. I run a consistent 4.4 40, but on a good day I run a 4.3"

I there anything you need to work on?

I need to work a bit on catching the ball out of the back field, but besides that it all good."

I see your teammate Linebacker Jeremy Terry is considering the Bulls, How do you feel about playing with him at USF?

" I would like to play with Jeremy again, but that decision is up to him"

There are a couple of Glades Central players already playing for the Bulls, do you know any of them?

" Yeah, I'm friends with Jessie Hester JR."

When are you taking your visit to USF?

"I'm scheduled to take my visit to USF after the All-Star game on Jan 20th."

Do you have any other visits to other schools planned?

" Not right now I don't, I may set up another visit, but I have nothing set"

How do you feel about your commitment to USF?

"I'm Real Excited, I feel good about my decision." will do a more in depth follow-up interview after Samuels visits USF.
