Jacksonville Linebacker Picks USF

Alonzo McQueen of Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville was in Tampa this weekend for his official visit, but before he left he made a commitment to be there for another 4 years. Read on for the entire story.

Alonzo McQueen is a 6-foot-1 210 pound linebacker from Jacksonville that has been coveted by the Bulls for months. He's a hard hitter with excellent speed, running a 4.6 40 time. Today, before he went home he met with Coach Jim Leavitt and gave his commitment to play for South Florida.

"I picked USF for a couple reasons. It's close to home, they are building a solid program, the fact they are in the Big East now and in a BCS conference also factored into my decision."

McQueen will follow in the footsteps of another linebacker from Robert E. Lee High School, Stephen Nicholas.

"Stephen was my host." says McQueen, "I've known him since I was in eighth grade. He is a funny dude!"

"The best part of my trip was touring the facility and I also really liked going to Raymond James Stadium."

McQueen said he liked the fact that USF is in a big city, he perfers the city over a college town.

To stay in shape McQueen runs the 100 and 400 on his track team, he also does extra conditioning on the football field after track practice. He is fully qualified and will not take anymore visits before signing day.
