OLB Josh Smiley Talks About His USF Visit

Josh Smiley of Milton High School, Milton Fla., was in Tampa this weekend for his official visit, but before he left he made a verbal commitment to be a Bull. Read on for the entire story.

Josh Smiley a 6-foot-3, 220 pound linebacker/defensive end from Milton High School committed to coach Leavitt and the Bulls over the weekend. He chose South Florida over Middle Tennessee State, Louisiana-Lafayette, FAMU, and Tulane. Smiley who was a three-year Letterman at Milton HS, was named Second Team All-State,  played in the Regional All-Star Game and the All-State All-Star North-South Game, he was also selected as a Santa Rosa Super Senior,

Head football coach Mike McMillion who coached Smiley since ninth grade said " he's a wonderful kid who carries himself well, and has no baggage" he added " He is a solid player, and with his great dimensions,  he can get as big as he wants to."

Josh Smiley on why he chose USF?
" I really liked everything about the school, the campus and the coaches. Also, my education had a big factor in it, and when it came down to it, this is where I wanted to spend the next 3 to 4 years"

Who was your Host?
"George Selvie, I knew him from pine forest HS"

What was your Highlight of your trip?
"Well I really liked the City, but my highlight actually was seeing the facilities, they were incredible"

What are your Grades?
"I have a 2.9 GPA and I got a 21 on my ACT"

What position will you be playing at USF?
" Well I played mostly outside Linebacker and some defensive end in HS, and will play OLB or DE at USF as well."

What would you say your best asset is?
"my quickness, I have good burst and reaction"

Is there anything you like to improve on?
"Well I run a 4.7, but I know I can improve on my overall speed"

When will you be enrolling at USF?
"probably in the summer."

What will you do to stay in shape until then?
" Same thing I do now, I just got back from running the stadium, and work out every day"

So how do you feel about your decision?
" I'm very excited, and happy I made my choice, I feel bad when the other coaches call me and I tell them that I'm committed to USF, they sound so discouraged, but I know I made the right decision"
