Georgetown At USF: Game Day

The USF men's basketball team has one more chance to get its first-ever BIG EAST Conference win, when the team hosts No. 20 Georgetown Saturday night at the Sun Dome in the season finale. The Bulls have lost a team record 17 straight games. Nine of those losses have been decided by seven-or-fewer points. Before game, the the Bulls will honor the two members of its senior class, guard James Holmes and center Solomon Jones. Team manager Richard Edwards will also be recognized.

The Bulls trailed No. 2 UConn 18-0 at home, but battled back to close the gap to 45-42 midway through the second half,  but UConn was able to pull away and win 66-53. Guard James Holmes led the bulls with 14 points, and center Solomon Jones had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Last Game Georgetown played:
The Hoyas shooting 52.0 percent from the floor beat Rutgers 68-53. Roy Hibbert had 25 points..

Roster Report:
Before Saturdays game, the Bulls will Honor their two seniors James Holmes and Solomon Jones.

Center Solomon Jones is almost  averaging a double-double on the season  with 12.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, and needs 12 rebounds to finish the season with a double-double. His 13 double-doubles are currently tied for first in the BIG EAST.  He is also eighth in the nation, and second in the BIG EAST in blocked shots with 3.11 per game.  He also owns the third-best  single-season blocks total (88) in the Programs history, and needs one more to tie the second best total in the teams history. 

Guard James Holmes scoring improvement from 2004-05 to 2005-06 is currently tops in the BIG EAST, He leads the team in scoring with16.9. points per game, steals 1.86 per game, 3-PT field goals with 2.39 per game, and is second in the BIG EAST in minutes played with 38.54 per game.

Forward McHugh Mattis  seven double-doubles on the season is 4th in the BIG EAST. He has the teams best field goal percentage with 59.8, and is second on the team in rebounds with 7.3 per game, and blocks with 2.18 per game. His 10 foot jump shot at Rutgers was his first field goal of the season that wasn't a dunk, lay-up, or offensive rebound. 

Senior James Holmes(67) and Junior Melvin Buckley(67) have 134 of the teams 140 3-pointers this season, which makes them the first teammates in the programs history to score 60 or more 3-pointers each in a single season.
