"I'd like to stay in-state or at least in the South where it's warm," said Saint Petersburg Catholic offensive lineman Elvis Fisher. "I was born here in Florida so I'd like to stay close to home."

Fisher said he has written offers from South Florida, Central Florida, West Virginia and Florida International. Florida, Iowa, Georgia, Nebraska, Michigan and Indiana lead the race for the 6-5, 310-pounder.

"I really don't have a favorite anymore. I just want to wait to see what offers come in May after some schools are able to come see me play. I want to go to a college that I can get a good education and play good football.

"I really like USF," Fisher said. "I went to their game last week. I've talked to the coaches a lot and they said I'd get a lot of playing time because they're short on good linemen. I could see myself fitting in there really well.

"I also like Florida a lot too. I went to their junior day and watched a couple of their practices. I like how they work really hard. I've talked with Coach (Urban) Meyer and a few other of the coaches a few times. I don't think I would be able to play as early there—I'd probably have to redshirt my first year. But it is a big school and I could get a good education there. I think either Florida or Iowa will offer next.

"I've been getting a lot of mail from Iowa. I like them a lot. They always produce good linemen. They want me to come out for the spring game but I'm not sure if I'll be able to go. I'd like to take an official visit there."

Fisher said he also considering Georgia, Michigan and Nebraska. "I really like Georgia. They lost some linemen this year. I haven't talked to them, but I've got some letters from them. My coach said that they're coming in May to our spring practices, so I'll know more after that.

"I like Michigan a lot. My grandfather went there. He also went to Nebraska. I've been a Michigan fan since I was little. They have great academics and that's important to me. I haven't been there yet. I want to get up there for a camp, but I not sure when.

"Nebraska is one of my top picks too," he said. "I'm getting a lot of mail from them. I went to camp there, that's how they know about me. It's really nice up there. The campus is great. It's a football college. Hopefully, they'll come down to our spring practices too."

Fisher said his strengths are his size and quickness. "I have really quick feet which surprises a lot of people because of my size. I'm quick off the line. Also, I have a really strong work ethic which I think is important if you want to get to the next level. My weakness is my endurance. I play both ways a lot of the time which gets me tired. I'd love to get to the point where I can outlast my opponents.

"I'm planning on going to a lot of camps and combines this summer. I'm going to the Scout.com combine in Boca Raton on May 13 and I went to go to the Scout.com combine in Jacksonville too."

Fisher reports a 3.1 core GPA and is awaiting April SAT results; May first time ACT.
