Paul Wilson plays on a team where it's easy to be over-shadowed, especially when you play with such stars as Chris Rainey, John Brown, Ahmad Black and the Pouncey twins. Most people don't know that Wilson runs a 4.46 40, or that he caught 43 balls last year and quietly had 750 yards with 7 touchdowns. However, this summer the 6-foot-1 receiver plans on staying busy and getting his name out there.
He thinks that playing on such a good team has exposed him to a lot of coaches that might not have known who he was. "Coach Meyer and Coach Leavitt each watched an entire practice. There have been so many coaches stop by, it's been really fun."
The day Coach Leavitt stopped by he offered several of Wilson's teammates, but Wilson was not able to meet Leavitt because of a track meet. It all worked out in the end when Coach Burnham came back a few days later and offered him during the school day.
"I was gone when Coach Leavitt was going to offer me, but Coach Burnham came by a few days later and they called me down to my coach's office where I was offered."
As of now Paul has offers from South Florida, West Virginia, FIU, Troy and Marshall. He is also receiving interest from Notre Dame, Ohio State, NC State, and South Carolina.
Starting this Thursday he has plans to hit the road and head up to Notre Dame, then to UF and finish up with a trip to South Carolina.
As of now he does not have a favorite, but he does have a top 5. They are, in no order, OSU, USF, South Carolina, UF and Notre Dame.
"I'm just taking everything in right now." Says Wilson, "I don't have a favorite yet. I'll probably wait till the summer is over and then talk things over with my parents. I'm not in a rush to commit, but if it feels right then I'll do it."
Wilson would be a good fit with USF. He's known for his great hands and prides himself on his route running ability. He might not be the tallest guy on the field, but he makes up for it with his ability to adjust to the ball while it's in the air. USFNation will have another update with Paul Wilson after he gets back from his summer visits, stick with us.
