Recruiting Roundup 6/12

Now that the May recruiting period is over, its time to figure out who was offered. Tonight we talked to two Alabama prospects, Jake Lanefski and Rodney Hudson, who were offered by South Florida. Also included in the update is Rene Perry (pictured) DT/FB from Lake City Florida. Find out what the recruits had to say about USF and who else they have been offered by. Only on USFNation.com

Jake Lanefski DT/OL, Mobile Alabama- 6-foot-4 255 pounds, did not play last year. Transferred to a new school and was required to sit his junior season. He's really anxious to get out and play again. This offseason he'll attend a couple local camps to work on his speed. Says he's going to concentrate on DT this year because that's where the colleges like him.

Right now he has offers from Army, Navy, Memphis and USF. When asked if attending USF is a real possibility Jake said, "Yes, definitely. I like them a lot."

Rodney Hudson OL/DL, Mobile Alabama- 6-foot-3, 285 pounds. Received a visit from Coach Leavitt in May. Coach came to his school and offered him a scholarship to South Florida. Last season Hudson had 32 pancakes at left tackle, but was also a run-stopping defensive tackle on the other side of the ball.

Hudson has offers from USF, Memphis, Clemson, West Virginia and Ball State. However, his top 5 is Auburn, Clemson, WVU, FSU and LSU. I didn't get a great feel from Rodney when we talked about USF. I get the feeling he's waiting on some more offers before he makes a decision. He plans to decide after his senior season has ended. If the offers he's waiting on don't come, look for USF to be a real possibility.

Rene Perry DT/FB, Lake City Florida- 5-foot-10, 260 pounds. Last season he had 88 tackles and 8 sacks at nose tackle, on offense he was mostly used in short yardage situations where he had 3 TD's on 15 carries.

Perry attended the UF camp this past weekend, but did not leave with an offer. Currently he has offers from Louisville, Wake Forest, and Ball State. He says USF is close to offering, "I talked with Coach Gregory and I'm probably going to get an offer after I send them my tape."

This summer Perry is working on his speed, agility and running technique. In July he will attend the Down and Dirty camp in Georgia.
