Recruiting Roundup 6/14

In tonight's recruiting roundup we feature the defensive end position. USFNation talked with three DE prospects, two from GA and one from South Florida. Two have offers and one is very close to being offered. Find out where USF stands with these high school standouts. USFNation - Get it First, Get it Fast

Matt (Briley) Hale, Brookwood GA, DE/LB: Hale is a 6'1" ½, 230 pound defensive end. He also plays linebacker, but will focus mainly on end this season. As of now he has no offers but he will be coming down for the USF camp on June 29th, where he'll most likely be offered. He's working on his agility and speed this offseason. In the mornings he works out and in the afternoon he sees his private speed coach.

Hale will head to Wake Forest and Appalachian State this weekend to attend camps. As of now his top 3 are South Florida, Clemson and Auburn. He'll take all three visits before choosing his school.

Patrick Hampton Lithonia GA, DE/LB: He plays mostly rush end and a little middle linebacker. At 6-foot-3 215 pounds, some schools are looking at him as a standup-defensive end. He recently went to an Auburn camp where the coaches mainly played him at linebacker. Last season he had 62 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 FF, 3 FR.

Hampton describes his game as fast and exciting, "I make plays, that's all I do out there."

He currently has four offers; Purdue, Indiana, Akron and Miami of Ohio. He says he's in constant contact with USF, but does not have an offer. He also said that one of his official visits would be used to head down to Tampa.

Patrick Grant, Lauderdale Lakes FL, DE: Another speed rusher. At 6-foot-3 215, Grant is incredibly fast, running a 4.51 40. Last season he had 12 sacks, 48 tackles and 2 FR. He credits his success to his speed and his awareness, "I know where the QB is at all times."

Grant also has a ton of offers. Coach Leavitt made a personal visit to his school and offered him before leaving. His others include Indiana, NCST, Minnesota, Auburn, Colorado State, Rutgers, and Eastern Michigan. He will go up to Rutgers this weekend and attend their camp. He told me his top 3 right now is Auburn, Minnesota and Colorado State.
