USF's Watson Named To Outland Trophy List

TAMPA, FLA. (June 19, 2006) -- Thed Watson, a senior offensive tackle on the USF football team, is one of 54 linemen on the 2006 Outland Trophy Watch List announced today by the Football Writers Association of America.

The Outland Trophy has been granted to the top offensive or defensive lineman in college football since 1946. The winner is chosen by the FWAA All-America committee.

Theodric Watson, 6-5, 295, is USF's starting left tackle, and he was named second team all-Big East in 2005 after transferring to South Florida from junior college. He has been named a preseason all-Big East choice this year by The Sporting News and Blue Ribbon Magazine.

Watson, a graduate of Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., is the second USF Bull player to be named to a Watch List. Linebacker Stephen Nicholas (Jacksonville, Fla.) is on the Bronco Nagurski Trophy Watch List and he is expected to be named to the Butkus Award Watch List for a third straight season.
