The South Florida Bulls received their first commitment today when they landed Lake Gibson defensive end Claude Davis. At 6-foot-4, 235 pounds Davis plays mainly end, but also tight end on offense. He decided on USF over some other big name programs including, UF, Ohio, Clemson, Pittsburgh and Iowa.

"I chose USF for a few reasons" says Davis, "It's close to my house, I like the coaches and (USF) has a lot of potential."

Davis said he committed to coach Leavitt a few hours before today's camp.

"I feel real good about my decision," adding, "I thought about it a lot and I want my parents and friends to watch me play. When asked how solid his decision is Davis said:

"I really doubt I'll take any visits, I'm a man of my word so I don't think I'll look at any other schools."

Last season Claude amassed some pretty impressive stats; 96 tackles 14 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns. And now that the pressure is off as far as recruiting goes, he says he's ready to have an even better senior season.
