Quarterbacks Working Hard, But Inconsistent

TAMPA, FLA. (August 12, 2006) – After the first of two practices for the University of South Florida today, Jim Leavitt addressed the current quarterback situation, saying their play is "inconsistent, but they are working hard."

Leavitt went on to say, "If they're all equal, Pat (Julmiste) will start." Of today's work at quarterback, Leavitt said, "Pat looked good. Matt (Grothe) was shaky at the start but he did some good things in the scrimmage work at the end. And I'm surprised out how well Grant (Gregory) is doing because he worked at defensive back all spring. Anthony Severino did some good things in the snaps he took."

On the overall status of summer camp, Leavitt said, "We still have a lot of work to do. We're not ready today."

The team will have an afternoon practice at 3:45 p.m., with meetings and a short walk through on the schedule Sunday. Monday brings another two-a-day schedule with practices at 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.
