Recruiting Roundup: 8/16

Today's recruiting roundup feature's all "sleepers", recruits who are flying low on the radar, but could be the next surprise commitment. Similar to Quenton Washington, who USFNation featured three weeks ago in a recruiting roundup. Read on for the rest of the story and find out who to keep an eye out for. your best source for recruiting news!

Byron McLeod a 6-foot-2, 218 pound tight end from Jefferson, who ran a 4.6 at the USF camp but claims to have run a 4.58 the last time he was clocked. He plays TE, and DE, but also gets lined up wide at receiver. Last season he had 2 td's on offense but didn't get much work playing behind Trent Pupello, who signed with Florida after last season. On defense he 2.5 sacks and 10 tackles.

"I just got offered by Middle Tennessee State, their my only offer right now, but I've gotten interest from USF, Ball State, FIU, and WV,a lot of the teams are waiting for me to play a few games this season before they offer."

When asked what his assets are, McLeod added "I got hands, mad hands, I got game."

Besides the big name guys Mcleod was one of my favorites along with Quenton Washington at USF's summer camp. He's very big in person and moves fluidly. Sources close to USF have told me he could be considered more at safety than tight end, even though he's never played in the secondary. This kid will have an offer from USF.

Chaz Hine from Newsome HS 6'3.5-303 OT " Everything is going great, I don't have any offers yet, but I've gotten interest from several schools."

Hine has had a nagging hamstring injury since the beginning of spring, however at the USF camp he was out there running and participating in drills. I think Hine is one of those prospects who will receive about 4 or 5 offers as soon as the first one comes in. He's too big and too athletic to not get attention.

He lists USF in his top 5.

"My favorites right now are UF, USF, Duke, FSU, and LSU ."

Collin Boss 6'4, 324 pound OL from Berkley Prep Currently doesn't have any offers but has gotten interest from USF, WV, and Auburn.

"My favorites right now are USF, FSU, basically all the Florida schools."

There are about 5 or 6 Olinemen that are right on the cusp of being offered and Boss is one of them. It seems USF has been pickier about linemen than any other position, and most are offered during their senior year after there has been more time for evaluations. Not sure yet if Boss will end up with an offer, but he's a good one to keep an eye on.
