Bulls in Top 3 for OL Grimes

The Bulls are in the running for one of the top O-line talents in the state. However they have some tough competition, mainly NC State and UCF. Micah Grimes talks about each school and more in this exclusive interview. Only on USFNation.com!

A team can never have enough quality offensive linemen. That's what the Bulls were thinking when they signed last year's recruiting class, however half of the linemen that signed with USF never made it to campus. Making this year even more important to land a big time lineman. Micah Grimes looks to be that guy. Standing at 6-foot-4.5 and 285 pounds Grimes is athletic, yet has a frame to put on more weight. He has excellent footwork and is one of the top O-line prospects in the state.

Grimes currently holds offers from NC State, UCF, USF, Colorado State, Iowa State and Marshall. Grimes was offered by Coach Burnham and Coach Frey earlier this year.

"My head coach is an alumni of USF, he called coach Burnham and got things started." Adding, "Coach Frey came and offered me first and then coach Burnham took over as my main recruiter."

Last weekend Grimes made an official visit to NC State, where he said he had, "an awesome" time. He rated his visit a 9, saying there was nothing wrong and it was a lot of fun. However, he left the door open to other schools.

"I'm ready to see a few other schools. I had a great visit to NC State and I wont forget that, but I'm going to see what else is out there."

Another school Grimes is interested in is Central Florida. He was on the sidelines for the UCF/USF game and was impressed by both teams. Right now he ranks UCF about 4 or 5 on his list.

"I went to the game and talked with some of the coaches, but I never got to meet Coach O'Leary. I was a little disappointed because I thought I would get a chance to meet him." Adding, "I have already met with Coach Leavitt twice."

As for South Florida, Grimes says he has them at number two. Right behind NC State.

"I like the Bulls a lot, I'm going to take an official visit. I've never been to Raymond James, so its definitely something I look forward to seeing."

Grimes wasn't sure of an exact date of the visit, but did say it would be soon. It better be because he plans to make a decision in the next couple weeks. Stay with USFNation.com as we follow Grimes throughout the year.
