Special Edition Recruiting Roundup: RB's

Since the departure of Andre Hall USF has had no answer at the running back position. With very little production this year, USF will certainly be looking to land a big name this offseason. USFNation.com talked with the 6 top backs in the state to gauge their interest in USF. Read on to find out where the Bulls stand with Eric Baker, Xavier Stinson, Greg Williams, Rai-Shawn Wilson and Bo Williams

Eric Baker 6-0 200lbs, Ed White High School

Leading his team to a 3-1 record. Baker has rushed for 736 yards and 10 scores this season. Says he's had an exciting week, recently receiving offers from Georgia and Clemson just days apart. He does not have an offer from South Florida as of Monday. "There's not much interest. I would be interested if I knew they were interested in me. I haven't been contacted by them or anything."

Baker says he has not set up any official visits but wants to set one up with Clemson and West Virginia.

My take: Right now he's a long shot, for whatever reason USF is not recruiting him and if they come in late it will be tough with the big named schools having already offered.

Xavier Stinson 5-9 216lbs, Chaminade High School

Lost last week 14-7 when his team traveled to Ohio to take on the 9th ranked team in the country. He played well rushing for over 90 yards. This year he has 5 touchdowns and feels he's on his way to having a great year. Stinson does not have an offer from USF. Says his top 5 is FSU, Auburn, Pitt, Minnesota and Tennessee. He's offered by all those schools except Florida State.

My Take: Xavier could be a wait-and-see type player. He's not off to as good of a start as he'd like. He also runs a 4.6, which is good for a back his size, but might not be what the staff is looking for in this offense.

Greg Williams 6-2 200lbs, Barron Collier High School

His team is 3-2 after a tough loss to Immokalee last week. In the loss Williams rushed for 151 yards. He has offers from Nebraska, Minnesota, Pitt, WVU and USF. Coach Franks offered him and has been in touch through the mail and text messaging, he was also in the stands for a game this year.
"Coach Franks is a good coach. I talk to Moise Plancher and he really likes him."

Right now Williams says he's concentrating more on his season and his SAT's than recruiting. He says he's wide open, but hasn't given it much thought yet. However, he does want to take an official visit to USF this fall.

My take: Williams is a big back who runs a 4.5 and runs track. Had a lot of good things to say about USF and I feel he'll be one to keep an eye on the rest of the way.

Rai-Shawn Wilson 5-10 193 lbs, Saint Augustine High School

Has his team off to a 4-0 start, chipping in with 8 touchdowns. He was recently offered by Tennessee and says that FSU is coming to his game this Friday. Coach Dawsey at USF offered him months ago and still stays in contact via the text message, he also came to see him play two weeks ago.

Right now all the schools he has offers from are at medium interest to him. Wilson says he wants to wait till the offers slow down before making a decision, which will come sometime after the season. No official visits are scheduled, but he'd like to visit Tennessee, FSU and maybe Lousiville.

My take: Everyone knows by now that I'm very high on Rai-Shawn. He's a bigger back with a great burst and has excellent hands. I think he's a reach right now, if FSU offers, which I doubt, he'll commit. When I brought up coach Dawsey's name he became real talkative and mentioned that Dawsey was one of the first coaches to really pay him a lot of attention. In the end that could be a deciding factor.

Cameron Harris 5-7 170lbs, Astronaut High School

His team is off to a 4-1 record. Harris is not doing too bad himself. In just 5 games he has gone over the 1,000 yard mark and rushed for 14 scores. He says he does not have an offer from USF, but did visit the school as a junior and enjoyed it. Says FSU is his leader (not yet offered) and wants to visit them along with UF and possibly NC State. He will make a decision after the season.

My take: In a previous scout.com interview in March Harris told Mike Bakas he had two offers, Auburn and South Florida. It's odd that he's not claiming USF as an offer. He did say there has not been much contact (mail, text, etc.) from the staff, its possible he forgot, as of now he has over 10 offers. Regardless it is not a good sign when a recruit does not remember/claim he has an offer from a school hoping to land him.

Bo Williams 6-0 205lbs, Northeast High School (Broward County)

His team is 4-0 and Williams leads the county in touchdowns with 12. He says he'll also lead the county in rushing after this week, claiming the only reason he's second is because his team already had a bye. Williams says he has 74 offers and just got back from an official visit to Nebraska.

"Nebraska leads right now because they showed me some love, it was a perfect visit."

Williams says every Florida school has offered except Miami. He doesn't know where his next visit will be, but says it could be Pitt. He is in contact with USF, texting with a coach within the last week.

My take: This kid is a stud and could be the second best back in the state. He was the most charismatic recruit I've talked with this year. He loves the recruiting process and my feeling is he wont decide until February. He's emotional, so whoever his last one or two visits are with, will probably be where he ends up.
