Bulls Battling For Lake City DT

It's no secret the Bulls will be looking to land a top-notch defensive line class this year, and Rene Perry could be part of that. However there is another Big East program that has offered him. Find out who it is and what Perry thinks of South Florida. Read on for the entire story.

With the recent news (last edition of Quick Hits) that Terrell McClain could be taking a visit to Alabama, Bulls fans may be getting worried about the D-tackle position. However, after talking with Rene Perry of Columbia it looks like another top prospect has taken a liking to South Florida.

Perry is a 5-foot-11, 265 pound runstopper who demands the attention of apposing offenses. Nearly all season he has received double teams, yet still managed 3 sacks and 35 tackles in only 6 games. He plays mainly nose tackle but can play either tackle position. Perry currently has four offers, including Louisville, Southern Miss, USF and Ball State.

"My favorites are Louisville and South Florida. It's between those two right now."

He will take an official visit to each school, but isn't sure of the dates at this time. One thing he said, does point to an advantage for South Florida.

"The main factor in my decision is getting a good education, also I don't want to be to far from home, but education is the main thing."

Another plus for USF is the fact that he is friends with both current player Allen Cray, and former Bull Eric Thomas.

He's been mostly recruited by Coach Gregory and Coach Rod Smith, who invited him to last weeks game against Uconn. Perry attended and said he had a very good time.

Perry will most likely wait till December to make a decision and right now it looks like USF is in another battle with Big East rival Louisville. Stick with USFNation.com as we follow this story through signing day.
