Trae Williams is Big East Player of the Week

USF cornerback Trae Williams, has been named Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and quarterback Matt Grothe earns Big East Honor Roll for their performance in USF's 22-12 win over Pittsburgh.

USF cornerback Trae Williams, quarterback Matt Grothe, and two Louisville's players earned BIG EAST Conference weekly football honors this week. Williams was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Matt Grothe was on the Big East Honor Roll. While Brian Brohm was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, and Art Carmody was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Big east interception leader Trae Williams, grabbed his sixth pick of the season with 31 seconds left to seal the victory against Pitt. Trae led the Bulls with seven tackles, 5 of them solo and 1/2 a sack in the game. He also deflected a pass that was then intercepted by corner back Mike Jenkins. Williams leads the Big East, and is fifth in the nation in interceptions, and for the season has 39 tackles, 23 solo, 6 interceptions, 5 pass break ups and 1 blocked kick USF's freshmen quarterback Matt Grothe earned Big East Honor Roll for his effort in the Bulls 22-12 homecoming win over Pitt. Grothe tossed a 45 yard score to go with 180 yards passing, and 51 yards rushing with a rushing score, before leaving the game with a foot injury in the fourth quarter.
