Georgia ATH High on USF, Visit Set

Thomas County Georgia athlete Dontavia Bogan talks with USFNation and tells us the Bulls are his favorite, when he'll visit and what he thinks about Tampa. Find out more about the WR/RB/QB/DB/KR, Only on!

If there has been one on-going theme to this year's recruiting it would be the "athlete" factor. Nearly every kid that South Florida recruits is able to play more than one position and in Dontavia Bogan's case he plays several, the 6-foot-1, 187 pound WR/QB/RB/DB/KR from Thomas County Central does it all.

"Things have been going good this season we finished up 9-4. I had 451 yards with 28 receptions and three touchdowns at receiver. I also rushed for like 295 yards on only 17 carries, I averaged like 15 yards a pop, and scored five touchdowns while playing quarterback. On defense I had 60 tackles and five interceptions."

The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association recognized the Yellow Jackets senior and named him to the North-South all-star game, that features 79 seniors from across the state on Dec. 29. Bogan also has been practicing all week with USF commit Lawrence McCoy for the North/South All-Star game that was played last night. He was also a 4A all-state honorable mention selection.

"I don't have any offers yet, but UAB and USF are showing the most interest, I have a visit set with USF on Jan. 12th, but I don't have a visit set up yet with UAB."

Bogan has been in contact with USF for several weeks now.

" I speak with coach Frey the O-line coach. They're recruiting me at receiver."

Bogan was even able to make it to a Bulls home game this season.

"I've been to USF before I went to the Homecoming game against Pitt. I got a chance to meet coach Leavitt and everything. I haven't been to the campus yet, I looked at it on the Internet and it looks good and everything. They were going to give me a tour around the next day but there wasn't enough time so they decided to save it for my official visit."

As for favorites Bogan really only has one.

"I'm favoring USF. USF is my only favorite. There is something about that area down there in Tampa. It fits me and my personality and everything, and I like the football program. They got a real good football program down there. That one game against Pitt, the quarterback completed like ten passes to ten different receivers. So if you're a receiver, that's a good situation, and most likely you're going to play. I really like them."

Bogan is also familiar with some of the USF players, he scrimmaged against Cedric Hill and Carlton Hill as a freshman and they were seniors. Grades should not be an issue with Bogan as he is a full qualifier with a 2.5 GPA. Stick with as we follow Dontavia through his visit and final decision.
