The USF coaching staff landed one of the best defensive prospects in the entire Central Florida area this weekend in getting a verbal commitment from three star linebacker Calvin Sutton of Deland High School. Sutton is an athletic 6 foot 215 pound linebacker that runs the 40 in 4.65, and is a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball. He chose the Bulls over Ole Miss, and Auburn.

"I chose USF because they're right in my back yard, there're close to home and I'll get a chance to play early."

Calvin Sutton emerged as one of the best defensive players in Florida, and was ranked the 31st best linebacker in the country by Scout. Sutton is a big time playmaker and can play all three-linebacker positions.

In his senior season Sutton tallied 164 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and one sack for the year. He was recently named First team All-Region, and was a runner up for defensive player of the year by the Daytona News Journal. He was awarded Athlete of the Week by the Daytona News Journal after registering 19 total tackles in a big district victory over Sandalwood. In his junior season Sutton had 19 sacks with 116 tackles, and was named first team All-County.

"Last season I blitzed a lot, this year I was more of a run stopper."

Sutton says he happy that he made his decision, and can't wait until he takes his official visit with the Bulls next weekend (1/12).

"I really like the coaches, they made me feel like I'm one of their own all ready."

Stay tuned with USFNation.com as we have a full Q & A with Sutton in the next few days.
