Chris summers 6-5 195
The coaching changes around the league have opened things
up for recruits heading into the final month before signing day. Chris Summers who committed to Louisville last month is one of them.
Summers was named All-conference first team for Football after he
finished the season with 48 catches for 758 yards receiving and 8 touchdowns.
"I'm committed to Louisville, but with Petrino leaving
and the coaching change up there it has opened things up and made me think about
Summers at 6-5 and 195 pounds is a big, versatile athlete
with speed, claiming to run a 4.6 40 and have a vertical around 30-35 inches.
"I'm a big play receiver, but I can also be a
possession receiver too. I'm also good at blocking, I like contact."
Summers is making a visit this weekend to USF, and already
has connections to the Bulls.
"I know a couple of players on the Bulls, I know Amp Hill
and Jason Sherman, they're from right down the street from me. I speak to them
both often. I just talked to Jason Sunday. "
"I don't know a lot about the program, but Amp has been
telling me a lot of good things, and how good the coaches are there. They are
moving up with their program."
Summers admits that he hasn't followed the Bulls much
this season but wants to find out more over his weekend visit.
"I haven't really followed the Bulls this season.
I've been committed to Louisville so I've been following them most of the
season, but with the coaching change up there it has opened things up and made
me think about other schools. I liked Coach Petrino, and I don't really know
the other coaches up there.
Summers also plays basketball and was named all state 2nd
team last year, and is on the same pace this year. "I play both forward and
guard, and average 15 points a game with 10 rebounds. Even though he will
entertain the idea of playing two sports, he is coming in this weekend to find
out more about the football team.
"I've been to USF for one of the camps, but it rained
most the time we were there."
"I don't know a lot about Matt Grothe but I here he's
Summers also plays defensive back, but is being recruiting
as a receiver by the Bulls.
"I was speaking to Coach Dawsey, but have been speaking
lately with coach Douglas"
"Things that are important to me in a school are their
location, how good their program is, and how good academic wise they are. Also,
I like to come in and play right away if I can, or at least get the opportunity
When asked where things stood for the talented receiver now?
"I really liked Louisville, but since the coaching
change, I'm considering other things and I may like to stay in Florida."
"Cincinnati is still in the picture, but I haven't been getting any calls from the coaches lately."
"I'm really looking forward to my visit with USF this weekend."
Do you have any other visits set?
"No, I already visited Louisville, but right now USF is the only other official visit I have set."
