Thomas Edenfield Profile

USFNation.com: Why did you choose USF?
Thomas Edenfield I felt very comfortable there. When I was there, It felt like home. The coaches are real good people, they really care,  they got some real good people in Tampa. I hung out with Matt Huners and Nick Capogna, they're real close, everybody is the whole team is , I really liked that

USFN: What are some of the things that you like about USF?
Edenfield: They are definitely an up an coming football  program.  I think they got a real good chance of winning the BIG EAST this year. and they're coming up. Also they got a real good academic program, and I like that. I'm looking at majoring business right now.

USFN: Have you been following the Bulls this season?
Edenfield: As far as football a little bit, not a lot,  I was busy with school and rehab. But one of my friends Keeley Dorsey, the back that passed away, I played with him at Lincoln. He was the quarterback when I played, and I talked to him every once in awhile and he filled me in on the team.

USFN: How long have the Bulls been recruiting you, and who were involved?
Edenfield: They started off probably when I just started my  senior year. I had offers from like Florida, FSU, Auburn, everywhere. Then I tore my ACL, and everybody kind of backed off, but South Florida stayed right in there, and recruited me hard towards the end there. Coach Troy Douglas, coach Frey, who is no longer there, and Coach Leavitt recruited me.

USFN: Which coach made the biggest impression on you during your recruitment?
Edenfield: I felt real comfortable with Coach Leavitt, he's a real good guy, coach Simmonds the O-line coach, he's a first year at as O-line coach but he seams like a real good guy too. we got along great. I'm ready to play ball for him.

USFN: Do you know any of the current players on the Bulls?
Edenfield: Besides Keley, no sir, I did meet some on my visit.t

USFN: What type of a offense do you like to run the most?
Edenfield: It doesn't really matter, what ever. I like to do it all, I just like to hit people. I'll run block, pass block, as long as I get to hit somebody.

USFN: What type of defense do you like to see when you get to the line?
Edenfield: I like to see a guy head up. I like to see skinny fast guys, that think their real  fast off the edge, I like that. But I don't mind limning up with a big defensive tackle, it don't bother me one bit.

USFN:
What is your favorite play  to run?
Edenfield:  I like to pull a lot, I really like to pull.

USFN: What is your favorite move?
Edenfield:  I like to get a linebacker, to pull and stuff like that, I like scraping off to a linebacker, that's pretty fun.

USFN: What position are the Bulls recruiting you for, and do you play any other positions?
Edenfield: Left or right tackle, but mainly right tackle. I played guard when somebody got hurt, and a little D-line, not much but a little on goal line.

USFN: Are you flexible, and willing to play at a position of need and excel at it?
Edenfield:  Of course, I'll play wherever they need me at, and be great at it.

USFN: What are some of your strengths as a player?
Edenfield: I'm real aggressive, that's probably my top thing, and I'm real coachable. I got good size, and I like to get after it out there..

USFN: Is there anything you want to work on?
Edenfield:  Everything, there's always room for improvement..

USFN: Is there a player on another level, college or pro that you model your game after?
Edenfield:  Sort of like Tony Boselli, I'd like to be like him one day, he's pretty good.

USFN: What are your current height, weight and 40 yard time?
Edenfield:  Right now I'm 6'6, 310 pounds, but my playing weight is between 300 and 310. I run a 5.5, but that's a laser time sir. a lot of times kids will say they run a 5.5, but they don't run a laser time 5.5.

USFN: Do you play any other sports?
Edenfield:  I do track and weight lifting.

USFN: What are you going to do to stay in shape before you get to Campus?
Edenfield:  I just got a work out book from the strength coach McKeefery. So I'm going to start on South Florida's work out tomorrow.

USFN: Do they have any problems redshirting?
Edenfield:  No sir, but there going to see what I do when I come in this spring. and if I do real good then I can possibly start at right tackle, and they'll move I believe his name is Marc Dile  to right guard

USFN: Do you enjoy playing special teams?
Edenfield:  Sure, but I only did field goal that's about it, field goal, and field goal block .

USFN: What do they plan to accomplish while here at USF?
Edenfield: I want to get a degree for sure. I want to get my degree, and graduate, play well, and hopefully go to the NFL.

USFN: What three things come to your head when I say USF?
Edenfield: New tradition,  great place,  and real good people.

USFN: What team are they most looking forward to playing against in the next 4 years?
Edenfield: West Virginia, that's going to be a big rivalry. Also I talked to coach Douglas today and he told me they already have three national TV deals, Auburn west Virginia and somebody else.

USFN: How are your grades, how are you toward qualifying.
Edenfield: I'm doing real good with my grades, last report card , I had all A's and one C, I got a C in sign language, I got to bring that up. Other then that I took my SAT Saturday, I think I did real good on that, the last time I made like a 18 or a 19, but I wanted to take it again to get even better. I'm close, I'm right at it..

USFN: Are you excited to get to campus?
Edenfield: Oh yeah, I can't wait, I can't wait, I'm ready.
