Charlton Sinclair Profile Are you glad that  all the Signing Day hype is finally over?
Charlton Sinclair: Yeah I'm very excited that the whole Signing Day is out of the way, Now I'm ready to get started at USF.

USFN: Why did you choose USF?
Sinclair: Honestly the main reason I chose USF is the relationship I developed with the coaches Lawrence Dawsey and coach Douglas.

USFN: What are some of the things that you like about USF?
Sinclair: I love the school, the area, its around everything. The football team, it seems like everybody that's part of it is like brothers, a family., they seem real tight like that.

USFN: Have you been following the Bulls this season?
Sinclair: Yeah, always since my eleventh grade year I kept USF at the top of all the schools that were recruiting me. I paid attention to them a whole lot this past football season..

USFN: How long have the Bulls been recruiting you, and who were involved?
Sinclair: They been recruiting me since my 10th grade year, they were on my brother Gerard who went to SC, I had a real good relation ship with coach Dawsey.  Also coach Douglas, before he came to USF, he was recruiting me at Indiana. He was going to be my defensive back coach at USF, and very involved with my recruiting. Him and coach Dawsey came to my house together, and sat and talked with me and my family. When I was on the visit all the coaches were talking to me, and I was talking to all of them.

USFN: Which coach made the biggest impression on you during your recruitment?
Sinclair: Had to be coach Douglas,  Also Coach Leavitt, he  has a lot of energy and stuff, I was watching a highlight tape and they were showing him running out with the team and stuff, and that's what I like about him, he's all for the team, and full of excitement.

USFN: Do you know any of the current players on the Bulls?
Sinclair: Yeah I know a whole lot of players, Dylan Douglas, Jason Sherman, Alonzo McQueen, Amp Hill, all those guys are from Jacksonville, and I met a whole lot of them when I was on my visit.

USFN: What position are the Bulls recruiting you for, and do you play any other positions?
Sinclair: They're recruiting me for defensive back, strong safety, but I can play cornerback , free safety, strong, and outside linebacker.

USFN: Are you flexible, and willing to play at a position of need and excel at it?
Sinclair: Yeah, I'm real good at defense, I'm just a playmaker. Where ever they see me best at, I can  play that position and make things happen for the team.

USFN: What type of a defense do you like to run the most?
Sinclair: A 4-4-3, that's what we ran at Mandarin. That way I can cover the whole field by myself. I can run down and  make tackles, and make some hard hits from the safety position.

USFN: What type of offense do you like to see when you get to the line?
Sinclair:  I like the wide spread formation with the quarterback back there by himself.  It's about me and the QB, I'm used to reading  his eyes and making  plays.

USFN: What is your favorite play to  run?
Sinclair: We had a play called wham, that's when they line up as linebacker, and have me blitz from the outside, as a junior I had like 14 sacks running that play.

USFN: What are some of your strengths as a player?
Sinclair: My speed, and I can hit hard. I'm a hard hitting person. I've folded up a lot of people during high school. I come with a lot of speed, and I have real good tackling technique, so when you combine those two traits, it makes me a very hard hitter.

USFN: What is your favorite  thing to do on the field?
Sinclair: I'm a great cover guy, but I love to Blitz, that's where I can make a lot of plays. with my speed, I'm so quick coming from the outside, that the offense doesn't know what to do. I may not be the biggest guy but my quickness makes up for it. My favorite thing is laying somebody out with a hit, anybody can get an interception, but they always remember a good hit.

USFN: Is there anything you want to work on?
Sinclair: I like to work on my footwork, and my speed, .

USFN: Is there a player on another level, college or pro that you model your game after?
Sinclair: Yeah, I see myself as like a Sean Taylor. He can cover the field real good and he can hit very hard. In college I see myself as the next Reggie Nelson.

USFN: What are your current height, weight and 40 yard time?
Sinclair: 5'11, 195 pounds, and I run a 4.5

USFN: Do you play any other sports?
Sinclair: I run Track, 200, 400, and long jump, my longest was 23-23.5 foot..

USFN: What are you going to do to stay in shape before you get to Campus?
Sinclair: Me and Thomas Edenfield, he stays like 30 minutes away from me, he's going to USF also and were trying to get together and work out. That and I run track,  lift weights and work out with the Mandarin football team.

USFN: Are you friendly with Edenfield?
Sinclair:  Yeah that's my boy,  we were with each other this weekend, we're real tight with each other, hopefully he will be my roommate once we get to college. I'm real glad things worked out for him with South Florida. That's another thing a lot of the guys I'm coming in with are really cool guys, Corian Garrison, Quenton Washington, Tyson Butler, and Josh Bellamy is really a funny guy.

USFN: Do they have any problems redshirting?
Sinclair: No, That could work out best for some people.  My brother redshirted, and he picked up a lot of weight, and came on strong. I can see myself doing the same thing.

USFN: Do you enjoy playing special teams, and do you return kicks?
Sinclair: Yeah I do kick off returns and kickoff coverage. That's the main thing on kick off coverage I go full speed, if you see my tape I make some big plays on kickoff coverage.

USFN: What do they plan to accomplish while here at USF?
Sinclair: My main thing is trying to get a degree. On the field, I want to break all the records, every record that there is at USF, I want to break them all. I want to be the best defensive player to ever play at USF.   Then hopefully I can  go to the NFL when I'm done.

USFN: What three things come to your head when I say USF?
Sinclair:  Hardwork, loving people, and fun, were going to have fun down there.

USFN: What team are they most looking forward to playing against in the next 4 years?
Sinclair:  There's three teams I'm looking forward to playing. Syracuse, because Mike Holmes He played high school ball with me and he's signed with them as either a slot receiver or CB, but he's been talking a lot of noise about how they're going to beat us in the future, and I'm not hearing none of that. West Virginia has a cornerback named Guesly Dervil, we played against each other in High School, and he been talking noise too. And Louisville has some Jacksonville boys too.

USFN: How are your grades, how are you toward qualifying.
Sinclair:  I'm doing real good just waiting for my test scores to come back. I got a core GPA of 2.5 and got a 16 the last time I took the test. Im right there

USFN: Are you excited to get to campus?
Sinclair:  I'm real excited, I'll be down there for the spring game to see how them guys are doing. I'll be with the team  going crazy with coach Leavitt.

USFN: Anything you want to say to the fans before you get to campus?
Sinclair:  Wait until I get there, we're going to win the Big East, and bring it back to Tampa, go Bulls!.
