The Bulls and new Head Coach Stan Heath got their first commitment of the spring signing period today, Orane Chin from Miramar high school in Miami.
"The main reasons I chose USF was a chance to play in the Big East, It's close to home, I really like the coaches, and I liked the players a whole lot too."
"I actually made my decision a few days ago, but I actually just called them and told them today."
The Scout.com 3 star prospect averaged 25 points, 14 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game last season.
"I feel I fit in real well there in that type of a system, and after talking with the coaches I feel it fits my game real well."
Chin who was named All-Broward County Class 6A first team visited USF this past weekend and came away very impressed.
"Coach Heath made a great impression on me, and I really got a good feeling after my visit last weekend, but I wanted to wait and think about it, and talk it over with my family."
What does the versatile forward/guard want to accomplish when he gets to USF?
"Academically I'm not sure yet, but I'm looking at a few things and I'll be talking with my advisors. Basketball wise I want to get to the Big East tournament. I want to go in and work hard and make a impact right away."
Are there any schools that Chin is looking forward to playing against?
Chin says he's done with visits and we'll probably enroll sometime in June.
"I'm not taking anymore visits, I'm real happy with my decision. I'm excited, my whole family is excited about it, everybody is really happy."Stay tuned with USFNation, as we do a complete Q & A with Orane over the next few weeks.
