Calvin Sutton 6'0, 215 pounds.

USFNation: What have you been doing the last several months?
Calvin Sutton: Besides school, I've just been running and working out, trying to stay in shape. I've been using the program that coach McKeefery sent me.

USFNation: Do you find the USF conditioning program much different then you're used to?
Sutton:  Yes it's very different, a lot harder and more intense.

USFN: Why did you choose USF?
Sutton: I chose USF because there're close to home, they're right there in my back yard. They got a great program and I'll get a chance to play early.  Also I really like the coaches; they made me feel like I'm one of their own all ready.

USFN:
What was it like attending the USF spring game and one of the teams scrimmage?
Sutton:  It was awesome, very intense. I got to watch how the linebackers ran and moved. I really liked it.

USFN: Did you learn anything about how the linebackers play?
Sutton:  Yes, when they hit you they wrap up. They scheme is similar to what I ran in my junior year so its familiar. They get to the ball, and hit, and take pride in doing it. I liked that.

USFN: This past year you had 164 tackles and one sack compared to your junior year where you had 19 sacks and 116 tackles why the big difference?
Sutton: Last season we had a bunch of linebackers so I was mostly used for the blitz, and this past season we didn't have as many so they would have me sit back more and read.

USFN:
Do you know any of the current players on the Bulls?
Sutton: I met a lot of them but don't really know themNo, not personally, but I read a lot about the middle linebacker Nicholas.

USFN: What style of a linebacker back are you?
Sutton: What style? I'm not sure what style, I can run sideline to sideline, make the hit and make plays.

USFN: What style of defense do you like to run in?
Sutton: I'll play in any defense that lets me make tackles.

USFN: Do you like to play inside or outside linebacker, and what are the Bulls recruiting you as?
Sutton: I play inside or outside linebacker, I play all three positions. I think they're looking at outside, but it doesn't matter to me.

USFN: What are some of your strengths as a linebacker?
Sutton: I guess my strengths are my tackling, and making plays.

USFN: Is there anything that you would like to work on?
Sutton: I want to keep getting better in all areas of my game, my tackling, my catching, everything.

USFN: What is your favorite thing to do on the football field?
Sutton: My favorite thing to do is to hit whoever has the ball.

USFN: What are your current height, weight and 40 time?
Sutton: I'm 6'0, and 215 lbs. The last time I ran a 40 was in Georgia, and I ran a 4.6

USFN: Do you feel that you're running faster now?
Sutton: Probably, I think I have, but I got more weight on now. I think I'm in better condition though and have more wind.

USFN: What gains have you made in the weight room?
Sutton: I'm not sure exactly, I bench around 315, and squat 450, and I power clean around 300. Last year I power cleaned like 290, squatted 400, and benched 285 lbs.

USFN: Is there a player on another level, college or pro that you model your game after?
Sutton: Yeah, Derrick Brooks, I really like the way he plays the game.

USFN: How do you feel about playing on special teams?
Sutton: I played on kick-off and punt return unit, I like playing on kick

USFN: How do you feel if the team decides to redshirt you your first year?
Sutton: I have no problems with it if that's what they decide.

USFN: How are your grades?
Sutton: Grade wise I'm fine, I got a 2.6 GPA, but I'm still working on my test score. They told me with the score I have now, I'll have to retake a science class, but I took the test a few weeks ago and am waiting for my results, if there good then I won't have to take the class. I'm also signed up for the test again next month just in case.

USFN: What do you want to work on before you get to campus?
Sutton: First thing is make sure I get the right test score and getting into school, and I think I will.  In the meantime I want to keep working on my wind. I know they do a lot of running there.

USFN: What teams are you most looking forward to playing against once you get to USF?
Sutton: I'm looking forward to Louisville and West Virginia. With Louisville that's where Johnny Touchen is at and I played against him in my junior year, and West Virginia has a running back that I played against my freshman year.

USFN: When I say USF what three things come to your mind?
Sutton: New home, new team, and winning, that's about it.

USFN: What do you want to accomplish once you get to USF?
Sutton: I' want to keep up with my grades and enjoy football, and the college life. On the field I want to keep my tackles in the 100's and keep the team on a winning streak.
