The South Florida coaching staff has been hard at work this off-season, especially in Georgia. The strategy has been to expand slowly out-of-state and that's exactly what they are doing. Recently the Bulls offered Jenkins High School (Georgia) defensive end Chaz Sutton. At 6-foot-3, 236 pounds Sutton has become a hot prospect in the Southeast.

USFNation reported weeks ago that the Bulls had interest, but at the time he only had offers from Rutgers and Va Tech. Now the Savannah standout has over 10 including South Carolina, Marshall, Indiana, Cal, Louisville and West Virginia.

"The Bulls offered me last Monday." Sutton added, "I talked with coach Leavitt on the phone, he offered me and said they really like what they've seen. I don't know much about USF right now, but I did watch the game where they upset West Virginia. Coach Leavitt and I talked about that a little bit."

Last season Chaz had 85 tackles, 6 sacks. He also plays tailback, he picked up 830 yards rushing with 7 scores. He says offense is fun but he'll stay on the D line in college.

"I'm a pass rushing defensive end, I also have the ability to hold my ground and stop the run."

Sutton says he almost made a commitment recently.

"I was going to commit to Virginia Tech last week. I was talking to the coaches and wanted to commit, but I talked it over with my parents and decided it's best if I wait and take a few visits."

USF could be one of those schools to get a visit over the summer.

"Coach Leavitt wants me to come down this summer. I talked with my parents and I might come to Tampa in July and checkout the campus."

His decision may be a couple months away, but Chaz does know what he's looking for.

"I want a nice atmosphere, like a family. I'm looking hard at the coaching staff's, I don't want to go somewhere and have the entire staff gone the next year. The last factor is playing time, I look at the depth chart and see how they plan to fit me in."

USFNation.com will check back in a few weeks to see if a date is set for Sutton's visit.
