Last time we talked with B.J. Daniels he was just finishing up spring practice and thinking about his latest offers from USF and Alabama. Since then the 6-foot-1 195 pound signal caller has seen a minor slow down in the action.
"Since spring I have received a few offers. I got one from Middle Tennessee, Indiana and Southern Miss."
Daniels says the break in the action is welcomed.
"I've been relaxing this week. It's been nice, just sitting here enjoying the (4th of July) holiday." Adding, "Our team has been lifting and working-out all summer so the break is good."
The South Florida staff has also been laying low as far as their contact with Daniels. He says he hasn't heard from them in about a month.
"Some teams have slowed it down a little. Except for Minnesota, I hear from them a couple times a week. But everyone text me yesterday (4th of July)!"
Next week Daniels is going to switch things up a little when he heads to Auburndale to play in an AAU basketball tournament put on by Tracy McGrady. However a trip to Tampa the following weekend is not out of the question.
"A few weeks ago my coach brought up the idea of playing in the 7-on-7 camp at USF. At the time we never talked to serious about it. Then I was talking with my dad and we thought it would be a great idea because I could also treat it as an unofficial visit." Daniels said, "I've tried calling my coach the other day, I'm going to push him toward letting us play."
This could be an important visit for the Tallahassee QB because the weekend that USF puts on their showcase camp Daniels plans to be in California.
"I'm waiting on an invite to the Elite 11 camp in California. There is one spot right now and they said the spot will be filled by someone who was at the Georgia passing camp I went to. I'm really hoping to get that spot."
Daniels was recently named the number one prospect on the USFNation Hot 20. Stick with us as we update his status throughout the summer.
