Sling & Shoot Recruiting Roundup

The recruiting updates keep coming! This time USFNation features two local players Derek Winter and Ty Jones. Also an update on a player who's caught our eye at several camps this summer, Darius Morgan from North Marion. Get informed, only on!

Darius Morgan, North Marion- Both Larry and I have had the chance to watch Morgan perform this summer and each of us were very impressed. However, he still does not have an offer from USF. Morgan is a little raw, but at nearly 6'4 and 188 pounds he would be a great prospect to bring in for a redshirt freshman year. Morgan claims several offers and says USF has shown some interest as of late. Morgan might go to the USF showcase camp and if he does, there may be an offer waiting for him. We'll keep you updated.

Ty Jones, Middleton- Jones is a 5'11, 215 pound running back. He's one of the top backs in the Tampa Bay area. During spring practice he injured his ankle and may have lost a little ground in recruiting, however schools are starting to pick up interest. Jones says that UF, USF, Auburn and Maryland are showing the most interest right now. Last season he ran for 1,200 yards and 16 scores, Jones is also has good hands and can be a receiving threat out of the backfield. Don't be surprised if USF offers before the summer is over.

Derek Winter, Plant- Winter has talked with USFNation several times this off season and has been lukewarm on the Bulls each time. We spoke with him once more at the Sling & Shoot, not much has changed. He has an offer from Army but his only offer from a BCS team is South Florida. Still that is not enough for him to name the Bulls as a favorite or even to guarantee them an official visit in the fall. Winter says that he is, "open and still waiting to see what happens".
