Pinellas QB Excited About USF Showcase Camp

With a flurry of commitments last week, the South Florida staff looks to carry that momentum into next weekends Showcase Camp. Could Orhian Johnson be next? He tells USFNation what it will take for him to commit this weekend. Read on for all the details!

This coming weekend is one of the most important recruiting weekends of the year. Yes it's early, but the annual Senior Showcase Camp gives the coaches a rare opportunity to get a close up look at the prospects they are recruiting. One prospect the staff will be focusing on is Orhian Johnson, quarterback from Boca Ciega. The 6-foot-4 signal caller is near the top of our latest USFNation Hot 20 and has offers from South Florida, Ohio State, Indiana, Western Kentucky and Cincinnati.

"I'm excited for this weekend." Adding, "There will be some good competition and I'll also get a chance to talk with Coach Gregory and Coach Leavitt."

Recently Johnson participated in UF's "Friday Night Lights" and impressed the coaches with a 4.5 40 time.

"I thought I played really well. I ran a 4.5 forty, but I kinda slowed at the end because I thought the guy wasn't timing me.

Johnson says he's ready to put on a show this weekend.

"I'm going to run a 4.4 out there. I know I have it in me, I can feel it. I'm going to run out of my shoes!"

Since the last time we talked with Johnson he does not have any new offers, but he says a few schools are starting to jump in the mix, including Ole Miss, Kansas and Louisville. He said that Boston College was recruiting him but he missed their camp due to traveling issues and hasn't heard from them since.

Johnson isn't one to show his hand and says he's not ready to name a leader, but he did say USF is up there. When asked if this weekend could put them over the top, he had this to say:

"I'm not saying I'm planning anything, but if I feel it and I know its right….I'll commit. If I feel USF is the place for me then I will pull the trigger."

Good news for the Bulls who are looking to add a playmaking quarterback. Johnson also said he plans to introduce the staff to a teammate of his.

"I'm bringing a kid that I think the coaches will love. His name is Julius Forte. He's a beast! He plays defensive end and is only a junior, he's 6'2 and 220 pounds. I think he'll make some noise at this camp."

We'll be sure to keep you updated on any developments with Orhian Johnson at this weekend's camp.
