USF Recruiting Roundup

In our latest update we concentrate on three prospects from down South. Find out which ones are coming to the Senior Showcase and why this weekend is important to both USF and these recruits. Only on!

David Blackwell, QB/WR/S/KR (Cardinal Gibbons)- Here is a kid that can do it all, at 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds, Blackwell dos not have an offer from USF, yet. He's a prospect who could be offered during the season. It would have come earlier if he attended the Showcase Camp, but he's in Nevada through the weekend participating in a Reebok basketball tournament.

He's already got offers from Arkansas, LSU, UCF, Ole Miss, Syracuse and Iowa. He says that he wants to visit Iowa on an official visit and the visit slots are up-for-grabs.

Corey Tate, LB/RB (Miramar)- Another multi-position athlete, Tate is 5'11 and 190 pounds. He boasts a 4.34 forty time. Last season he played mostly linebacker racking up 148 tackles and 15 sacks. He didn't have big rushing numbers due to a lack of carries, but he did have 3 touchdowns while averaging 11yds/carry.

Tate is holding offers from a few schools USF would like to keep him away from including WVU, UCF and Pitt. The Bulls have offered and have been aggressively pursuing him. He talks with Coach Scott about twice a week and is working on getting a ride to Tampa this weekend for the Showcase Camp. Tate is looking to play either safety or linebacker in college.

Donnell Wilson, DT (Golden Gate, Naples)- This weekend is huge for both Wilson and the Bulls. The 6-foot-2 and 290 pound Big Man does not have an offer from USF, he says Coach McCarney told him they needed a chance to evaluate him in person before an offer would be extended. If the staff likes him enough to offer, (which we think will happen) then he is a great fit at a need position for USF.

Right now Wilson only has offers from Ball State and FIU. He is one of the few hidden gems left in the state and there is a very good chance that after USF offers the floodgates could open. Auburn, Clemson, Pitt, Iowa and Mississippi St. could all offer in the next few weeks. In fact, Auburn has requested his first two game tapes of this year. Wilson says his top 5 teams right now are Ball State, FIU, Auburn, USF and Pittsburgh. Donnell and teammate Anthony Mains (defensive end) will be riding together on Saturday to South Florida, we'll have updates on both players.
