Over 150 of the best talent in the state will attend The USF Senior showcase this Saturday. Besides giving the staff a chance to get another look at the recruits, it'll also provide a platform for the top athletes to improve their stock.  One player looking to make a statement is Joshua Price, a 3-star DB from Parker HS in Jacksonville.

"I'm going to the USF Showcase camp this weekend. I'm looking forward to working out, and being with the type of athletes that they are recruiting," said Price. "I also want a chance to look at their facilities. I'm really looking forward to all of it."

The Scout.com 3-star prospect stands 5'11.5, weighs 190 pounds and runs a 4.4-40, pretty good dimensions for a defensive back who can play either corner or safety.

"Most teams are looking at me at both corner and safety. Last year I played corner, but this year I'm playing free safety."

Last season price had 50 tackles 4 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles but also had double digit pass break-ups.

"This year I want to improve on all those numbers. I'm also going to play a little running back on offense this year. I haven't played running back since Pop Warner, it should be fun," said Price. "This season I want to work on improving my techniques, and my overall game."

Price said that he hasn't hit any camps this summer, but is concentrating on his team and the upcoming season.

"This year I want to shoot for the stars, the state championship. If we can go deep into the playoffs anything can happen."

On the recruiting front, things started off slow with 3 early offers, but after an outstanding performance at the Scout.com combine things took off for Price.

"After the combine things really picked up. I started receiving phone calls, texts and letters from a lot of schools.  I ran a 4.39 at the Scout.com combine in Jacksonville, but I hope to improve on that number at the showcase camp."

The top ranked safety has received plenty of interest and claims over 13 offers including Louisville, Kentucky, Clemson, West Virginia, UCF, Mississippi State, and received an offer from USF last month.

"Right now USF is showing me a lot of interest, South Carolina texts me a lot, NC State sends me a lot of letters. I'm looking at everybody really and there about even, but USF is looking at me hard so that's why I'm looking forward to checking them out this weekend."

Price says at this point he really doesn't have a favorite or top 5, and is pretty much wide open at this point.

"I have a lot of contact with Coach Douglas, we talk about football, academics, and where I want to be as a player, and school wise."

Price said he has never been to USF before but is eager to see the campus and already has a Tampa connection. "My homeboy goes there, Charlton Sinclair, and he's been talking it up."

He may not be ready to name a favorite but he does know what he's looking for in a program to spend his college career.

"I'm looking for a system that I can fit into, something that is academically that I like, something that feels like home to me," said Price. "It doesn't have to be that close to home but if it is then that's ok. I'm looking for that overall feel and environment that I'll be comfortable at," added price. "Somewhere, that if I get hurt or something, I could still stay there with out football. To me its education first, football is just an outlet."

As to becoming eligible, Price has a 2.4 GPA and was just 20 points from qualifying the last time he took the placement test. "I've only taken it once and I think I'll qualify the next time I take it this fall."

The standout defensive back said he won't be making the trip alone and that he's bringing one of his teammates who plays in the secondary with him to the Showcase.

"I want to impress and open people's eyes," said Price. "I'm also hoping that my homeboy gets some looks he's undiscovered."

As of right now Price has no visits set, but will make those plans once the season rolls around.

"I'm looking forward to the season. A lot of teams said they are going to come take a look at me during the season, and I want to make a good decision. So I'm going to wait and see what unfolds," said Price. "I'm looking forward to committing after the regular season, some time during the playoffs."

Jacksonville seems loaded with DB's this year, and the Bulls are on quite a few of them. Price has talent and a good combination of size and speed and could fit very nicely with the Bulls defensive scheme.
