"I committed today." Said Anthony Mains, a 6-foot-6 and 220 pound defensive end from Golden Gate High School in Naples.

Mains arrived at 9AM this morning for the start of his official visit to South Florida. He met with academic advisors in the Business school and talked about either majoring in Marketing or Management.

"After meeting with the advisors I was brought in to meet with Coach Leavitt and Coach McCarney."

The meeting with the coaches went well, then Anthony was introduced to George Selvie, and was told he would spend the rest of the afternoon with the country's leader in sacks.

"Meeting him was really cool." Adding, "He brought me to the school cafeteria, which was also my favorite part of the trip. The food was really good."

With all the success Selvie has had this season Mains was surprised at how down-to-earth he was.

"He's humble and I like that. He's actually a big goof-ball, I thought he would have a big ego and all that, but it was totally opposite."

When his time with Selvie was up he had one more thing to do before he left and that was to inform the head coach that the Bulls are the team he will sign with on signing day.

"They were in a meeting and coach Leavitt came out and I told him I was ready to commit. He brought me in to the room, the coaches hugged me, everyone was clapping. The whole thing was just awesome, it felt like family."

The day was over, but there was still one more stop. The school bookstore where Mains stopped to pickup a USF hat before heading back to Naples.

"I'm relieved it's over. I'm still a little nervous because this has been such a long process. This is by far the toughest decision I've ever had to make. I know it's the right one, I'm sure this is where I want to be."

Mains says he will not be taking any more visits and plans to be on the sidelines for the Cincinnati and Louisville games later this season.

My Take:
We've updated Anthony Mains several times since the season kicked off and it was easy to see that the staff needed only to close on this 3 star prospect. By the end of the summer he had bought into what USF had to offer. Then he made two visits, one to Wisconsin and the other to Stanford. Although he enjoyed them, they confirmed what Mains was already thinking – USF was the place for him.
