Over the weekend the Bulls got two more commits from the Pearl River pipeline in LB Kion Wilson and WR/DB Theo Wilson. Both who were listed as a top 50 JUCO Recruit by the Sun Herald.
4-star prospect Kion Wilson is a 6'1.5, 235 pound strong side linebacker at Pearl River Junior College and was one of the top linebacker prospects in the country. This past season Kion has recorded 98 tackles, 7 TFL's, 1 sack, and 2 forced fumbles. In 2006 as a freshman, he racked up 117 tackles, 2 INT's, 6 sacks and a defensive touchdown.
A graduate of Jacksonville Raines, Wilson committed to Illinois but never played due to academics. He is now looking forward to getting back into division one football with the Bulls, and plans on being enrolled at USF this spring with two years of eligibility.
"They recruited me in high school. I got to know Coach Burnham and liked what they had to offer back then. Now they have put themselves on the map and it's a very attractive place to play."
His teammate Theo Wilson is listed at 6'0-200 pounds and plays quarterback/receiver/defensive back among other talents. Theo was a standout duel threat player at Dunedin high school and as a senior in ‘04 he passed for 1,434 yards and 16 touchdowns, while rushing for 783 yards and 10 touchdowns, but didn't graduate until going back in 2006.
Theo spent last season at Southwest Mississippi Community College playing quarterback before transferring to Pearl River. At Pearl He was multi-dimensional finishing with 265 passing yards with 2 TD's, on top of that he had 153 rushing yards with 4 TD's, and 120 receiving yards and a score.
The versatile Wilson will most likely be a summer enrollee and also have two years of eligibility left and is projected to play either defensive back or wide receiver for the Bulls.
Pearl River defensive end Craig Marshall who committed to the Bulls as part of the '06 class but didn't qualify has also said he will rejoin the Bulls this spring after earning his AA from Pearl River.
The former 3-star prospect Marshall stands 6'5-260 pounds and has been a force on the D-line this year finishing with 41 tackles, 4.5 TFL's, 3.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and an interception during his freshmen year. Marshall redshirted last season and will have three years of eligibility with USF.
name many Bull fans are very familiar with is former 4-star DT Leslie Stirrups
from Hillsborough HS, who also was to be part of the '06 class but didn't
qualify. Leslie 6'3-275 pounds, is in his freshmen season at Pearl and finished
with 30 tackles, 6.5 TFL's, 1.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble, and plans on
returning to USF when he completes his AA degree next year.
