Will Martavious Odoms visit USF?

Coming off a state championship victory, Martavious Odoms talks with USFNation.com about his favorites and who he plans to visit before signing day.

This weekend Martavious Odoms, 5-8 speedster from Pahokee, led his team to a State Championship in Orlando. He racked up 5 catches for 111 yards, in a blow-out win over Newberry, 53-14. Odoms says winning a state championship has taught him how to be a leader.

"All season I've been working on setting a positive example for the younger guys." Adding, "Hopefully we can leave them with a solid foundation for the future."

When he's not practicing, Odoms has been fielding phone calls from college coaches.

"There are a bunch of schools that call me whenever they are allowed. WVU, USF, Tennessee, Iowa and UM all call me once a week."

Odoms who just returned from a trip up to Auburn says he's ready to start scheduling the rest of his visits (he has 4 remaining).

"It's gonna probably be WVU, Tennessee, Iowa and then the 4th is up in the air. I've been to USF several times, but I still might go because I think I need to see more."

"I want to go back to USF and meet the coaches and the players again to see if I feel comfortable there. All the schools I'm looking at have great academics, I know I'll get a good education wherever I go, but what's important to me is the atmosphere."

USFNation will check back with Martavious once his visits are set.

My Take:
Although he didn't get in the endzone in the state championship game, Martavious had several drive-extending catches including a 38 yarder down the sidelines early in the game. He's just the type of receiver the Bulls need to compliment their spread offense.

That being said, I would still consider USF a long-shot at this point for Odoms. They came in relatively late and have a lot of ground to make up. If he sets a visit then I would change my stance. Also, I found it a little surprising he didn't mention taking a visit to UM. I think that he winds up taking a trip to Tampa and possibly replaces the Iowa visit with an official visit to Miami. He said he'll start planning visits in the next couple days.
