Pinellas County All-Star Game Photo Gallery

Wednesday night was the Pinellas County All-Star game and USFNation.com was there for all the action. We had a chance to talk with a number of players so check back for interviews, but in the mean time enjoy this free photo gallery.

The 2007 Pinellas County All-Star classic was won by the North side 17-7, but the game wasn't as close as the score.

The North took an opening kick-off by Dunedin's Mike Towns 84 yards and settled for a
24-yard field goal by CCC's Jeff Ijjas. They extended the lead to 10-0 on a 6-yard run by Countryside's running back Maurice Threatts late in the first quarter. Clearwater's Chris Sackmann caught a 5-yard pass from Countryside's Brandon Lockwood for the North's other score. The one bright spot and only score for the South was Ja-Vonte Trotter's 59-yard catch and run from Jesse Redden of Pinellas Park. It seemed like the North coached by Tarpon Springs George Kotis played the game like it meant something, while the South played like they were in a bowl game.

Game MVPs

Overall MVP - Ja-Vonte Trotter (Boca Ciega wide receiver/return specialist) South

Defensive MVP - Larry Murphy (Gibbs defensive back) South

Offensive MVP - Erin Murray (East Lake running back) North

Defensive line - Donel Engram (Tarpon Springs) North

Offensive line - Cody Donnely (Palm Harbor University) North

Largo's Brynn Harvey, Leonard Johnson, Reggie McCray and Travis Feldman didn't play in the game but were honored at halftime.

As most all-star games go the real story isn't as much the game but who's at the game and what happens after the game. During the game I counted More than 15 college coaches ranging from Div. 1A to NAIA including coaches from USF, West Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, UCF, FIU, Ball state, ODU, WKU, Akron, TCU, Fordham, and Assumption, to name a few.
